| The Grattan stadium naming rights, which were lauded at the time, went for [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/super_league/bradford/5098690.stm£500'000 over 4 years[/url - conveniently the same as this time frame as this deal. That leaves £700'000 over 4 years for sponsorship - £175'000 per year. I very much doubt we achieved that but perhaps one of the accountants can confirm.
Given the relative stature of our club in 2006 vs now and the state of the economy, it really puts the value of this deal into perspective.

| Things would be so much better if everyone helped each other to the best of their abilities but unfortunately that will never be the "norm". So these companies do have a role to play and most people use them in a correct short term manner. The few who do not, whilst I can sympathise, are fools to themselves. These are always meant to be short term loans. I will wear the shirt proudly next season with the Provident logo boldly on display. This company have stated that they wish to invest locally etc and this can be seen as trying to go some way to making amends for the people who get caught up in the spiral of debt. I for one am very chuffed with OK, GS and team for brokering this deal and for a local company taking the chance on us and allowing us some of the tools to start making a challenge again. I think it is great that we have obtained such a huge sponsorship deal from a Bradford company. COYB

| Big money sponsor for a club that 2 months ago was circling the drain.
The main problem with getting RL to grow is the lack of big money investment into the sport. This is a positive step forward for both the Bulls and RL in general and the new owner and board have again been proven as men of their word when they promised big things for the club going forward.

| From where you guys where just a few months ago this is massive.
I'm pleased for the Bulls to have this deal. £1.2m over four years is guaranteed income something which can't be ignored.
Whilst "The Provvy" are not everyone's ideal sponsor I don't think there would be many SL clubs would turn them down if they knew £1.2m was there for the taking.
Well done Bradford, pleased for you!

| Quote ="Bullboy"You dont have to share my convictions but (and I don't know if you recall) the two of us have played on the same team and have shared a few beers. If you do remember me I would hope you would recognise that my moral compasss does not align provident with Jimmy Seville. My point was "where do you draw the line" and the use of an extreme gives the reader the opportunity to decide how close to that extreme they would accept.
Today I own my own consultancy and so I am lucky enough to not need to use such services, but there was a time when I was on the breadline with my (then) girlfriend being the main bread winner on just £3.55 an hour and I had to buy a cooker from Bright House and pay for it with pay slips from my employer. I and you are intelligent enough to use such services to get by but you can't pretend that they don't make their money from the less fortunate and (I'll say it again) the more vulnerable members of society.
Watch "the revolution will not be televised" and see a guy who's borrowing money "to pay his dealer" get a lone from the money shop. Watch panorama and see (perhaps an isolated example of) an agent talk about keeping people in debt so that she gets her bonus. I personally find it uncomfortable viewing.
Incidentally, during those poorer times, a member of the old bulls forum offered to give me £100 to help me out of a really difficult position ( a neighbouring pill head had tried to kick the door of my flat in.) I'm embarrassed to admit I can't remember their username. Last year a friend of mine got himself into trouble with A payday lending company who had reached the stage of charging him £100 a month in interest which he would never have been able to clear. I lent him £800 to pay them off and stop him getting into an endless spiral of debt. If we all helped eachother out to the best of our abilities, the companies who advertise during Jeremy Kyle would be out of business pretty quickly'"
Yeah, I do pal... just put it down to a bad day at work. I ranted without even looking at the name
That said, I still believe there is still a place for these kind of companies. It shouldn't stop those who can control their borrowing and spending just cos some can't.
Then again, if the banks hadn't f**ked everything up there may have been no need for theseloans in the first place.
Sorry again for the rant

| Interesting comments seems every one has forgotten when Shopacheck was emblazoned across Hull shirts and Roy Waudby who is lauded in Hull was the boss of the company !!!
By the way the average Barclaycard is around 30%apr these days even to the most credit worthy people. Live and let live no one has to borrow money unless they want and the Banks will only end to solid gold customers so any loan company will charge high interest against shaky non secured on property loans and the good ol Banks will send you to a high interest loan broker for a big fat fee of course !!!!
Get real it's good money local company big employer in Bradford sounds like there's some jealousy around to me

| For heavens sake, we can barely run a rugby club let alone usurp the FSA.
I'd really like it if we still had 100,000 textile jobs in Bradford and Jacob Behrens was our sponsor.

| Some moaning sods on here today. Stuff the "morality" of the sponsors. It is a GREAT deal for the club and one we have to take.
Four months ago we were off to oblivion. I wonder how many would have gleefully accepted the Provident deal at that time when our future would have been safeguarded?
I see no difference, morally, with Provident than I do seeing teams encouraging alcohol brands/betting companies etc. It is an advert, it is advertising space and we have made a shed-load of cash from the deal. That will do me.
Blimey, I must be the new addition to the PT.

Maybe some RL fans as much as they love the game or their club think that other things are more important and feel that it is worth taking a principled stand.
I applaud some of the more socially aware Bulls fans on here.
If i was a bulls fan i would be torn about whether i should buy a shirt or not. If i wanted to support the club i would buy one, if i felt uncomfortable about the sponsor i would not.
If i wanted to support the club and be true to my principles i would buy one and then Black out the sponsor.
Maybe someone with better IT skills than me could do a mock up with the with some nice black pen over the offending sponsor !

| As someone who has had to use payday loan companies in the past, i have no problem with the shirt and i will definately be getting one.
If you are in a pinch and there is a company there willing to fund you the money *until* you can repay it and you take the option as it the only option you have, you can only live in your means and if you borrow £1000 knowing you will never be able to repay it you have only yourself to blame when they come asking for it back, it is the same with a bank loan or a mortgage, albeit at a lower rate but the issue is still the same.
But at the end of the day its your own personal opinion, if you have a problem with the sponsor call the stadium odsal and dont buy the shirt.

Yawn! Another cheap pop from you.
I suppose your torn about supporting the Giants after 'Sir' Ken secretly sold himself your stadium shares for pocket change.

| Thank you for questioning the morality of this BTW. The Challenge Cup turned me into a chain smoker because by being sponsored by Silk Cut i had no choice but to do this and the Super league turned me into an Alky because by being sponsored by Stone Bitter I had no choice but to do that.
Christ! We're sponsored by a takeaway too so we'll all be forced into being obese bankrupts because no one has a personal choice in any of this!.
I have actually been bankrupt in the past and didn't need a provvy loan or a vanquis card to do it.
But you are right Provident are totally wrong I mean they have a moral duty to hand cash out at high risk to themselves, over a short term without security for a lower interest rate than the banks. Infact they should shut up shop now and make the 1000 people they employ in Bradford redundant.
I guess that means that the bank that lent Bradford Bulls Holdings money last year and then pulled the plug on the overdraft due to a perceived lack of security are morally bankrupt too. But no the bitter haters were sticking up for them last year so it's actually a load of b0ll0cks!
