| Just digressing slightly back to a point Asim made.
18,000 capacity?
I know it's been a while since we had a crowd that big, but you'd like to think we could be back up there before long.
What was the capacity of the cheaper scheme?

think the cheaper scheme was actually higher. its only 18000 because its all seater which tends to lower capacity. plus more expensive scheme involves raising pitch approx 15m which would be about halfway up the current terraces.

It'd be higher than that wouldn't it?
Anyway, if you're starting from scratch at what ever height, why limit it to 18K? Most new builds seem to be prett standard at around 25k.

very little apart from providing the land which as longterm leaseholders we can prevent the council from using for anything else. The council are putting in approx 15m to improve a council owned facility of which the stadium will form a small part as well as replacing the richard dunn. The rest of the money will come from various grants which the council would be unable to attract without a professional sports club being involved in the scheme.

To the best of my recollection, the only thing I have seen on this was from last week's T&A, which stated "The project’s steering group hopes to bring in £18.5m in commercial retail and sponsorship, £15m in contributions from its primary partners – such as the Bulls, Bradford College, Bradford University, NHS Bradford and Airedale – as well as more from Yorkshire Forward." If there hasn't been anything else, we're left with an undisclosed share of £15m.

If we get to the point where 18k capacity isn't enough then I'll be very happy!! I suspect the club would be too!
A lot of stadia have been expanded when the need arises. If we're packing out a brand new stadium every other week and having the football there all winter we might be able to afford it too!!

Don't get me wrong....I'd tear their arm off it was a certainty!!
Taking the Bulls out of it for a moment, it just seemed strange, given they're promoting the fact other sporting events would hopfully be held there......finals, semis, surely a bigger stadium would be needed?

surely the undisclosed 15m is the money the council has earmarked for the project from the money received from the sale of the airport.

Would Bradford City need more than 18,000 capacity? Would any other local sporting side?
I'd rather have to make sure I have a ticket each time and get it near capacity every time it's used than have a half empty stadium nearly all the time. Clubs which have to turn people away at the gate seldom suffer much from it.
Perhaps there will be more detail available at the forum. Maybe extra layers can be added or corners put in if the capacity starts to fall short of demand.

No, it's just a coincidence that that is also £15m. The [url=http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sportbulls/sportbullsheadlines/4391076._Final__Odsal_options_unveiled/article[/url refers to guaranteed funding of £15m from the airport sale and £4.1m from Yorkshire Forward. All the rest of the money is currently hypothetical but includes a further £15m from the parties involved (as per my quote above). Then there is £18.5m in commercial retail & sponsorship & £14.8m in grants. [uIf[/u it all came in, we'd be well past the lower figure, but apart from the first £19.1m, it's all currently kite-flying.
So to refine my answer to Guess Who, it appears that the Council expects the Bulls to pay an undisclosed share of £15m.

Yes I want that too, but what would you rather have?
a. An all seater stadium like Hull FC and Wigan have, which can hold other events and therefore reduce the costs of stadium upkeep to the Bulls. Other people would be able to pay towards the upkeep and so we'd have more money to spend on players.
b. A mixed stadium like Warrington have. No football team either in the top 2 divisions or wanting to get there would be able to use the stadium because the rules for football stadia at the top levels don't allow for standing spectators.
c. Keeping what we have and seeing all our money go to just keeping the stadium from crumbling to bits.
I'd rather forgo my preference for standing at matches if it meant a better future for the Bulls.

As would I, but I feel at all seaters the atmosphere tends to be duller because when people are sat down they are generally quieter. But yes, i'd sacrifice my own wants for the good of my rugby team.

One off. Central Park or JJB? Galph..... oh no, Huddersfield has never had an atmosphere.

| No the JJB doesn't have the atmosphere that Central Park had but then that was a very special stadium.
I love Odsal but the openness of it is often its undoing when it comes to atmosphere. Only when it's full to the brim, the weather is kind and the rugby is good too does it really rock - then there's nowhere on earth like it.
If we had limitless wealth I'd say keep the bowl, build up the sides and make it a mixed use stadium - perhaps having some areas with removable seating so that the rugby fans could stand. That would cost a fortune though and until I win big on the Euromillions it's just pie in the sky.
I'd rather have the possibility of an all seater than a no-chance dream of an Odsal bowl with roofed seating and modern facilities.

I take it from them that no one, not even the Bulls will say how much money they are going to put into this scheme.

I think that your assumption is accurate, if somewhat loaded in its wording!
It would not surprise me if the interested parties are [inot in a position to say[/i (rather than "will not say"icon_wink.gif how much money they will put in, due to continuing negotiations and the uncertainty about which scheme will be preferred and how much money can be obtained from commercial sources.
As I pointed out, if all the theoretical sources of funding were realised, the lower-level project would be over-funded (though there would still be a gap for the higher-level project). [uIf[/u all were available and the lower project were selected, someone would benefit from the slack.
While I agree (though being in favour of the Sporting Village) that it would be in the interests of the Council Tax payers of Bradford (and Keighley!) if the slack came from the airport £15m, it does appear that that money is committed, which would suggest considerable scope for negotiation between the primary partners (the Bulls, Bradford College, Bradford University, NHS Bradford and Airedale).

I thought the Boulevard had a very "special" atmosphere.
I always enjoyed changing ends at half time, the banter was, er, lovely.

| Im absolutely amazed at the figures now being touted.
Agreed, this scheme is more than just a stadium, but bearing in mind you can build a modern stadium for $1200 per seat (24m for 20,000 capacity), it suggests that either the other facilities are very exensive or there are high costs associated with preparing the Odsal site for Construction.
Interestingly enough, the new Leeds International Pool cost $16m.
I thought the idea of the Sporting Village was to make the most of what was there, build in stages with the opportunity for further development rather than come up with some vastly expensive development that requires almost $80m.
It just sounds to have snowballed to something totally unfeasible and leads me to thinking developing the Odsal Site is simply not economically stacking up.
Ps that pounds not dollars! Sorry no pound sign.
