Using very rounded figures, to get a similar gate income to 4200 @ average of around £20 you're gonna need pushing 6000 if you drop the price by a fiver. But is a fiver really enough to pretty much guarantee gates of 6000? I really can't see it, and of course the lower you drop it, the worse it gets. Then again, your theory assumes that the "less committed fans" WILL attend SOME games - against say Leigh, or Halifax, maybe - and so you'd be doing yourself in those games as they may get 6000 - but would have done so at a higher price, so you have to factor in that you're doing yourself on the more attractive fixtures.'" and, IIRC it didn't quite work out.

| The thing is, Marc Green and his team have clearly looked at what the crowds dropped to by the end of last season and realised that's the core level of support the team has.
The people complaining about the cost seem to be the ones who only go to Odsal maybe once or twice a year, so really it seems that if they wanted cheaper tickets, they should have gotten up to Odsal more often last year.
When we had the cheap season tickets, it seems that the plan was to make up the shortfall by having 10k people in the ground every other week spending money to make up the shortfall. Trouble was, far too many of those cheap ticket holders only showed up for the big games. If you want a cheap ticket, then the club needs to be assured that you're going to turn up each week, otherwise they're out of pocket. Yes, the current pricing is steep for the level we're playing at, but that money is going towards building a SL standard team.

I'm not saying cut it by a fiver. I'm just going on my gut reaction when I turned up for the first game of the season and saw the price. Which was "that's a bit steep". I suppose my expectation was that it would be £19, just below the psychological £20 price barrier.

| I'm not saying there's zero psychology in RL ticket pricing but basically the argument would be that a significant number of people would be "conned" into deciding yes I will buy a ticket at £19.99, not realizing that it's actually £20. I presume the obsession with 99 must serve some marketing purpose but personally thing it has been overdone to death and is just viewed as "required" now. I mean what is the point in advertising a car, say at £19,999? In some shops pretty much every sodding article is something.99p and I can't be the only one who just finds this irritating. But not as irritating as diesel being invariably x.9p a litre. What bollox. Yes if you buy 10 litres then it will be a whole 1p off but that's only if you believe that a pump can accurately measure 1p worth of fuel, but what is the assumption here? That unless you offer 0.1p a litre off your fuel nobody will buy it? Really? So a garage in Wibsey will sell at say 117.9 whereas a Tesco down the road will sell at 116.9. Would people desert Tesco for Wibsey if they sold at 117?

| My beef with the price is paying 2 quid extra on the day. I don't see why I should have to pay more money to watch lower quality games. I had a season ticket last year, not this season though. The price is quite frankly ridiculous.

| In the Championships away clubs selling tickets for league games have always given the full amount to the home club, I understand the Bulls have exercised a right to retain 10% - so maybe increasing away prices is a good idea when playing Bradford but lower them for bought on the day.

Not buying a season ticket is any supporters prerogative, as is buying one. I did get mine and was happy to pay a bit extra with the hope of regaining a place in SL and hopefully not having to go through what we have over the last two or three years.
As for the extra £2 on the day, if the club see this as commercial sense then so be it, they are not forcing anyone to pay it.
Can't really see what's ridiculous about the club wanting commercial stability.
I'm sure all this has been said before on other threads so now its my turn.

| To me this dull debate on the pricing structure is quite sad, because it demonstrates the probable pointlessness of debating the result.

I'm not saying the thread is pointless, but rather that we appear to have collectively decided that discussing the outcome of the game is pointless so instead we talk about the cost of the tickets.

| Think that's fair assessment, to be honest. Has anyone, in this season of 'every second counts' [I thnk that's the motto.., actually mentioned the match yet?
Strange when you consider many Fax fans seem to regard it as the BIG derby. We, of course, just yawn and shrug our shoulders....

| We all knew Mullaney and Taharoui took knocks on Sunday, but I wasn't aware Williams was injured
I assume from the way the Jimmy was bugging him up on Bulls TV that he hasn't been dropped?

Ah, the classic put down, belittling. '60-0, in your cup final'
I'm sure it's been a similar hierarchical relationship between Leeds and Bradford over the last 10 years of Bradford banality.
Those with longer memories will remember fondly that Fax and Bradford was the big local derby.

Long memory, but it gets a bit thein where the bits I've forgotten fall off..
Back in the day all games against West Yorkshire teams were considered 'derbies' and , I guess, lots of folk had their favourite bête noir amongst the opponents. Maybe, for Fax fans it was Bradford, Maybe for Hudds fans it was Fax but for Bradford, the main one was always Leeds.
Unlike some, I can't really say for my Dad - he was originally a Wakey fan anyway..
