T&A seem to think we're getting Ted Chapelhow and Sam Brooks. Both props I think.
Should hopefully add some bulk up front which is definitely where we're short. I was really hoping we'd get Danny Walker too though, would be a great bench hooker to bring on. Ah well.

Think Brooks was at Fax but didn't make it into their first team he's been at Whitehaven last year IIRC.

Chapelhow was also at Haven. He's a big lad.

I've no idea if they're any good. I'd be surprised if they're as good as Oledzki or Murray.

They signed Brooks from Whitehaven I think, then dual registered him back to them for some games last year. Both Chapelhow twins played on dual reg there last year too.

Id agree I doubt they'll be as good, but they are both better then the current empty squad places we need filling to play prop and we have a really important game on Sun.

I hate the DR system, and I would not be interested in following a club that makes long term use of it. But, we are in a hole and I'll take any short term assistance this season, so welcome on board to the 2 new lads from Widnes.

The webbed toed hill dwellers from Halifax have brought on a fair deal or hate from me towards them, with their revelling in our dire situation.
The chissy situation that we are facing with Sheffield and listening to their fans calling for Campbell's legs to be broken and general abuse at Odsal would say I have a strong dislike for them..

Obviously my like for Sheffield has increased lately. I can't see why people should blame Sheffield though. You can't just try take someone else's player though can you. Hes obviously still their player even though he's never gonna play for them after what he's done. He obviously was never a free agent otherwise the RFL would of had this sorted. If the Bulls had a disciplinary issue with a player and they were not gonna pick him again what would we say if Dewsbury came and said we want that player and if you don't let us have him we will not be happy and hope our fans turn against you

If a Super league club had signed him and not someone in the relegation fight I'm sure the story would be different.

Ah so it is yes. I just assumed the TotalRL bit had been added by their reporter, but you're right it's in the article on Sheffield's website.

Even though I have no knowledge of these two forwards I know how good a player Dennis Betts was. He has picked both of them on a few occasions to play in his SL team which tells me they have achieved a minimum standard. That probably means they are reasonable players especially in our lower league. Add the fact that they will be wanting to do their best and get back into the Widnes team and you never know.

Well, that's me being my usual optimistic self - always look on the bright side or find the nearest tree and a length of rope.

It all depends on how much cash Sheffield has. If he's staying there, they have to pay his wages. They have to be careful to follow their written disciplinary procedure to the letter, or he'll walk. Most clubs dislike paying someone who is never going to play for them again. But I'm sure Sheffield dislike the idea of him going to Bulls as well. Depends which they feel is the priority. Saving money by releasing him or spending wages on someone who wants to go elsewhere

It is a sorry situation but what did we do wrong?
We tried to sign a player who was apparently sacked which I believe Roger can probably confirm.
To avoid this problem we could not have gone near him.
How would some people on here have reacted if they had heard he had been sacked a month ago and we had not even thought about signing him. Look how many have complained we didn't sign Bailey.

It looks like Sheffield want rid of him (and he wants to come back to us) - but not until they have played us again and we have lost a few more games. You can always do things better but I am struggling to condemn the Bulls here. It seems a case of they are condemned if they did and condemned if we didn't sign him. We were all confused when Sheff signed him when we were all wanting him back. What if he had gone to Swinton or Dewsbury and our chairman said we decided not to go for him.
We are in a lose, lose situation till we actually get him out there with Leon, Keys or even Lilley. then it hopefully turns into a win more times situation and all is forgiven. I expect it to be sorted just after the final whistle on Sunday or very soon after.
