Royston average? come off it. He's young and it's his first season in super league. If you ask me he has done very well.'"
Royston is 28, so not exactly young in RL terms. I would agree he has done fairly well for us so far but I wouldn't consider him anything other than a fairly average SL player in all honesty. That isn't a criticism of Royston just the cold hard truth IMO. He has stepped up from the division below and not looked out of place so he deserves credit for that.

IMHO Leon is not the player we want to be looking to recruit next year. He has had his time at Bradford....let it go'"
Fair enough, who would you like to see Bradford recruit instead?

| At the end of the day, Leon is a class player and a player who would give us much needed experience in the stand off position. To turn someone down of that calibre would be an option in other teams cases but with our team and the rebuilding process we are in, surely it would be in the teams interest to sign a higher standard of player to improve the squad as a whole?

someone other than Leon. I think he is or has been a brilliant player, but I have just seen Bradford sign too many players in the last few years who have spent much of the previous season injured. It's ok if the player is on the younger side (Kearney) but when it comes to someone like Leon at 30 you are taking a bigger risk.
I'm just worried we may jump onto signing Leon Pryce too early then miss out come the end of the season if another, better player comes available.
I can see why people would want him here....I just peronsally think it would be a poor decision by the club.

Yep the very first one to be refused in the modern clamp down followed by Crocker, Bird and Eastwood.

Great player, but having just got his NRL career back on track... would he be looking to move to Bradford? Doubtful I would say at his stage of career. I personally feel we'd be far stronger signing someone like Pryce (non quota) and use any available quota spots to bolster our threequarters.

Which is, of course, true. Wardle left before the Royston signing was announced.

I'm not saying that wouldn't be a good option, I just think there may be better ones.
I just have major reservations about signing Leon. At the same time if it happens and he is a major success and does massively change our fortunes and successes I won't be complaining. I'm not saying in this thread that I don't think he wouldn't be a quality player to add to the squad. I just want to look forward not backwards.

This coming from the chairman of the Christa Ackroyd fan club, I imagine if Hood has any sense he'll make the call to Leon tomorrow.

| Leon is the type of player to win you a tight match. He's a game winner and has that bit of magic (or "X factor" if you've listened to Noble enough) that can get you another try. We'd be crazy to not at least enquire about his services.

| When Leon is fit and on form, he is unplayable, he can turn a game on its head on his own, he has the x factor which we are missing.

| If Pryce left Saints he wouldn't sign for hasbeens like the bulls. He'd sign for a top club like Wire.

And they could probably pay him more with their elastic salary cap.

At this stage in his career he would sign for the team that gave him the longest & most lucrative contract.

| Leon is at his peak will be looking to make a step up in his career rather than a step down. That's why he'd come to Warrington rather than sign for Bradford.

| At the moment it seems that no one is really available in positions we need, or we get outbid.
Weren't we assured the halfback positions would be filled? Everyone knew last year that halfback was weak. They can't have thought Herbert and Briggs were the answer to really test other SL sides.
Anyway, i was told in January we had pretty much signed Leon Pryce and it was going through in March. Dunno why march but I was excited by this so wasn't really worried about the stand off position. My source was pretty strong and he told me about MP a few weeks before it was announced. I just wonder if something did happen to change it, maybe the eastmond situation.
