never said it was a good signing - just that the rumor was floating round, he's also being linked with hudds, quins and celtic.
cant see any point wasting a quota spot on a prop personally. rather give matt james/ steve crossley a shot or bring in a british player. we need the quota spots for backs.

Hull FC fans seem to rate him.
Paul Anderson wasnt a superstar when we signed him, overweight and unfit if i recollect.

| We don't need another prop unless Burgess leaves, we have been using him as an impact prop lately, and it's been working. Moa is like Feka but worse. No thanks.

Well Moa isn't the person to replace him. If Burgess is off i'd expect enough dosh to be able to get both a quality half and a beast of a prop. If we can't get a half lets get a world class centre. If we don't get at least £500,000 i'll be disappointed, I think he's worth more aswell.

When the guy can apparently leave for the NRL in 12m for free, IMO you have not got a cat in hell's chance of getting anything remotely near what would be at least AUD 1m for him - for one year! Indeed, apart from Crowe I doubt we'd get significant cash payment at all.

Well then i'd keep him for the extra year tbh. If we do happen to do well next season it could convince him to stay.

| Any self respecting player would play for their team mates.
Keep Sam until Sept 2011 and we will see massive benefits for the Bulls, more so than a bit of loose change which is all we will get for him should we decide to sell.

I suspect it's your heart that's saying that rather than your head . . . .
If he really wants to go and ply his trade (and I believe he does, with a passion that most people can only dream of) in what is supposed to be the best league in the world & against the best players in the world, [unothing[/u RL related will stop him.
. . . . and I wish him well in all that he does and that such a move brings him. He's a sound lad (with a heart as physically big as his head is )

Just as an aside . . . . how far would you take the "[iplayer forced to honour[/i" their contract. To court? Stop him from playing RL ever again?
The thing here is that playing for the Bulls is Sam's job. One I'm sure he loves . . . . . but it is, his job. His livelihood / career is RL.
We're not just talking about some knockabout on the meadow and then a laugh and joke in the bar with his mates.
Perhaps the question you ought to be asking yourself is; "Would his mates, in the same Bulls team, go to Oz if they had the opportunity?
Anyone who goes to work simply for "their mates" or "not to let them down", IMHO, is letting themselves down. Especially so if it means they would be missing out on become the most that they could possibly become; challenging themselves professionally and personally but, probably more importantly, living their dream.
Would I, as you simplistically put it, "let them down"? Oh, were it that life was really so black and white . . . . but given the above, if I were one of Sam's mates in that Bulls team, I'd feel let down if he stayed given the opportunity that lays before him.

We dont have to take him to court, it's him that has to take us seen as though he made a legal contract with us if he wants out of it and we don't want to let him out of it.
It's not just any sh!!tty job, RL is a sport where you depend on your team mates, loyalty to the cause is important and I'd be dissapointed and seriously let down in myself if I had I run out on a obligation I had made to the club, coach and team mates that I have claimed to love, I'd also be dissapointed if my team mate did the same thing. Obviously I have a greater sence of loyalty than some.
The thing is the NRL is going nowehere, and Burgess is always going to be in dmeand from there wether it's now, 2 years or 5 years. He should stick it out with the club and people that he's made a pledge to, even if it means waiting a little longer. He shouldn't have signed on the dotted line if he was not willing to do so.

| The most important question which seems to been have been over looked is why is Sam wanting off now a year after signing a new deal. It's all well and good blaming CC but he won't have done it off his own back.

| Sam Moa would be a great signing for you if you need an impact prop, he has been fasntasic of late for Hull, and would love him to stay at Hull (like 99% of Hull fans) but we are looking at using his quota spot on a back.
Came a bit unfit but has worked really hard, an off season would improve him even more, he is still only 22, with a bit of work I think he will make a fantasic prop and after a few years in SL I would expect him to go back to the NRL and make a decent impact.

Without knowing Sam's mind, if your manager/agent (with dollar bills flashging across his eyes) was telling you every five minutes every man and his dog in the NRL wants you ASAP, and you have the chance to go to live in Oz an play in the best competition in the world, and if there is the opportunity to do it, why wouldn't you want to? Regardless of which club you were playing for? And let's not get too carried away about this loyalty cräp - player can get to end of contract and clubs often don't show "loyalty" with a new contract, so ultimately a player surely has to look after himself?

Agree again, as you seem to agree with me in acknowledging that it is just a job.
Quote ="Terry Monster" where you depend on your team mates, loyalty to the cause is important '"
We're on a roll we both agree again. That loyalty is just as important in many jobs. I'd argue far more so in the armed forces. . . . . but are agreeing wheels just fall off at the following
Quote ="Terry Monster" and I'd be dissapointed and seriously let down in myself if I had I run out on a obligation I had made to the club, coach and team mates that I have claimed to love, I'd also be dissapointed if my team mate did the same thing. '"
Quote ="Terry Monster"Obviously I have a greater sence of loyalty than some. '"
Don't see why you'd believe that, given our joint comments above. It could be argued that you have a greater sense of misplaced loyalty in the greater scheme of life, but hey, whatever rocks your boat.
Quote ="Terry Monster"The thing is the NRL is going nowehere, and Burgess is always going to be in dmeand from there wether it's now, 2 years or 5 years. '"
Agree with the demand point. However, in 5 years would he still be young enough / fit enough / free from injury, OR illness, to enjoy what playing there and all that wider life in Oz can bring you. Who knows? Sometime you only get one chance in life. Sometimes, if you don't take that chance when it's offered, you live to regret it.
Quote ="Terry Monster"He should stick it out with the club and people that he's made a pledge to, even if it means waiting a little longer. He shouldn't have signed on the dotted line if he was not willing to do so.'"
And I think this is where we fundamentally differ - which I don't have any issue with, it'd be a boring world if we all agreed / had the same view point.
Just as an aside. Would your last points logic mean then that no club / no player should [iever [/iend a contract / move on / be moved on until the terms of the contract that both parties "have signed on the dotted line" for have been met. I guess that would apply in any sport then too?
At the end of the day Sam will do whatever Sam decides to do / when Sam decides to do it. Should that be to stay, then we'd all be happy. If he goes - then so be it and all the very best to him/his future, IMHO.

He wouldn't be worth a quota spot though for us, with our dire need for some quality in the backs. If he doesn't stay with you, it'll be Wigan or Saints.
