With a fat clause in there making him available to SL clubs without restriction, or something material? I know this should be a reason to be cheerful, but I'm getting used to us being a relatively insignificant force in the game.

I would be surprised if that was in this time. I can't see much point of OB, Gaskell etc signing new deals, but asking for that release clause so they can play SL. They're contracts run out and i'm sure they could sign for SL teams if they wanted at the end of this year. I get the feeling OB genuinely wants to be here even if we are in the championship.

Even at the very worst that clause is in (which i personally don't think it will be) and he plays 1 season then that clause is activated, that is 1 more year than we were all expecting as i think most had resigned to the fact the likes of OB, Gaskell would be gone if we didn't get promoted. This signing could be the first step in getting a feel good feeling back at the Bulls.

Well with the season we've had, a new a coach coming in (which was needed) and our star home grown hooker signing for 3 years, it will certainly give everyone a lift. Like i said, hopefully this will encourage a few others to follow and sign up.

One of the better things about next year is that some of those two year deals, from two years ago, and I'm particularly thinking about the ones where the player involved has barely, if at all, put on a Bulls' shirt, will be finished. Which should leave us with some extra cash to play with - assuming we can keep, within reason, the support base.

Great news,plays with heart and a love for the shirt. We should keep going with more of our young juniors like Oates and Ryan. They were solid at Dewsbury.

I reckon his deal was already signed before Lowes quit. The club were probably waiting for a good time to announce it. As soon as I saw this announcement I thought that it was meant as some positive news to offset the "negative" of Lowes going.

We desperately need to get a team that can realistically challenge for promotion otherwise he needs to be released for his own good.

Or possibly, the deal was in negotiation and what might have swung it is the club letting O'Brien know who's replacing Lowes.

If it is Morrison, then I'm not surprised AOB signed a new deal as he's played under him before at Dewsbury and knows what he's all about.

Has Gaskell extended his contract too then ?

It goes right down as far as a "Lauaki" which is the lowest rating in the scale.

pleased with o'brien re-signing. Thought he was one we'd definitely lose at end of year. Another re-signing announced tomorrow according to greens statement. Hopefully its another of the key players and not just a fringe one.

Interesting point. We currently have 10 players signed for next season on fulltime contracts which club will have to honour. So at worst we could drop to a core fulltime team with fringe players on part time deals.

Remember we're actually allowed to spend more than leigh this year base on our income, rather than owner giving RFL a bond like they did.So assuming we manage to finish in top two positions in middle eights, as central funding is determined on middle eight finishing position not league finisihing position, Then our central funding next year stays same as this year. assuming sponsors stay on board and there isnt a massive drop off attendance wise then dont see why we cant stay fulltime. maybe not able to spend 1.3million on cap like this year, but theres plenty of scope to trim unnecessary wages from playing squad with most of unused players OOC this year.
