| Took the Townsville to Sydney Flight with the entire Rugby League Press, Brian Noble joined the check in queue behind me singing Elvis and "someone" gave the pilot a birthday message for Ray French which may have slightly exaggerated his age
also saw eddie and stevo in their "summer gear" outside a bar in townsville, not a pretty sight

| Whilst working in tesco when away at uni, served virtually the entire St Helens squad, Daniel Anderson the only one with any manners, kept Sean Long waiting ages by offering him a club card, schools vouchers and all sorts of rubbish, Johnny Vegas, who bought 2 of everything he came in for, Calvin and Hannah from Hollyoaks, and Steven Gerrards ugly wife.
Met Ray French loads of times as he was president of the local RU club I played for, always serving hotpot after training,
David Unsworth in a bookies at Uni, John McCririck at Aintree,

| I used to be a BMI frequent flyer between Leeds/London for many years and met quite a few famous people either on the plane or in frequent flyer lounges. Here are some that easily come to mind...
Frank Carson, I met him a few times. One time he kept the entire FF lounge entertained on one of those days when every route shows delyed/cancelled. Strangely I never liked his TV act but, in person, he seemed much funnier.
Janet Street-Porter. She was booked on one flight with a standby on her preferred flight (which means that she was booked late). What a fuss she created in the FFL when told that she hadn't made the flight... F'ing and blinding very loudly, what a t@t!
Ian Botham... I'd got into Heathrow early from the US and was sat in the FFL on my own watching TV when in came IB and his Mrs. He sat down and then ordered his wife around like a slave. When I switched the TV channel he demanded (in an abusive sort of way) that I switch it back as he hadn't finished watching it. He went sulky when I informed him that the programme that had been on had actually finished, the next one being teletubbies. Boy, how his attitude changed though when two more sports celebs came in... all sweetness and light to everyone then!
Fred Trueman... sat next to me on the way back to Leeds. We had a very wide ranging conversation during which I found out that one of Fred's great delights was plain old fish and chips and a pint (no real surprise there)
Sir Alex Fergusson... met him in the FFL in Nice airport. We started talking about football but, when he spotted this wasn't exactly my area of expertise, he changed subject and we had a nice long chat waiting for our flight to Manchester, which had been delayed.
A long, long time ago I spoke to Bob Geldof, he and 'the rats' were eating at the next table to me in what was then a Chinese restaurant in Bradford somewhere behind the Alhambra. They were a right scruffy looking lot... I didn't twig who they were until I started wondering why people were staring in the window
Madonna... well I sat about 5 rows behind her on the plane - 5 rows filled with her entourage!
Phil Collins, sat next to me but went to sleep as soon as the flight took off. Fair does, he looked completely knackered. (I think he was on his way to a gig at Roundhay Park)
On topic with RL, I once had the great displeasure to have to sit through a meal sat opposite Maurice Lindsey on the train down to London. Pretty much all the way down he was on the phone calling people to tell them that he couldn't do this or that because he was on his way down to 'Number 10'. What a pompous ass
Oh, and David Bluncket... in 1987 all the trains from Kings-X to Leeds had been cancelled (hurricane had damaged the roof). There was a rumour of one train out of London northwards from St P's (next door). I skittled across and sat down in an empty 1st class compartment. The compartment quickly filled until there was only 1 seat left, opposite me. Well in comes David B and sits there. No problem with that... no, the only problem was his bloody great big dog which sat in front of him putting me in an ideal position to notice that it clearly needed its teeth cleaning

| I also know [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Lomas#Inspiration_of_fictional_workthe bloke who is supposed[/url (by some) to have been the inspiration for the main bloke in the Da Vinci Code. I assume it's the guy Tom Hanks plays in the film, but since I would rather witness the death of my entire family than either read or watch it I don't really know.
He used to pop down from the library upstairs to see his mate in the next office. He would leave that office, with its two people, so he didn't disturb them when his phone rang. That would be cool if he stayed in the corridor, but he came into our office, with its ten people, and stare absent mindedly out of our window while pontificating on whatever bull he'd made up that week.
Cock of ages.

| We stayed in the same hotel as the Bulls squad on the first weekend we played Catalan in France.
My mate and I had the room next to Medley and McNamara and we regularly passed them in the coridoor during the weekend. On the morning of the game, we made my mate dress as Spiderman as we'd paid for his flight. Just as we were walking past Macca and Medley's room on the day of the game they were coming out of the door, my mate turns around (dressed as Spiderman) and asks:
"Was that you two making all those banging noises last night?".
We quickly jumped in the lift.

| A good few years ago hubby was on big breakfast and met All Saints, they insisted on showing him their new (weeping) tatoos - nice!
Said he didn't want to offend them so he had a good look.

Ahh, that's just reminded me, My Mum & I saw Gerry in Morribobs at 5 lane ends, just after he'd signed. There was a story on the back of the T&A about him and it took us 10 mins of "you go over", "no you go over" to finally speak to him.
Thoroughly nice bloke.
I've also remembered a Leon pryce encounter.
I once made a (rugby league skills) video with him for the Rugby League. This was before he signed, it must have been 1994 IIRC. John Kear was also involved, as he was something to do with the RL back then, with Gary Schofield doing the "coaching" of us.
There was a week's worth of shooting it, which took place at Dudley Hill (Where I played at the time!)

I did the same outside the White Cross in Guiseley, eventually shouted a Ger-ry! and he smiled and waved. My none rugby supporting friends asked if he wasn't a bit portly for a rugby player!
After admonishing them, I had to agree sadly
Saw Stu Fielden in Walkabout the day after we first(I think) won the club championship. I congratulated him and asked what it felt like to be in the best team in the world - 'not bad eh?' was his response.
My brother became Paul Medley's personal assistant in Homebase as he was in all the time and our kid used to come and ask him what he needed then go and get it! No one else in the shop knew who he was!
Go in the same gym now as Ellery Hanley. Was surprised to see him doing exercises like out of the '70s!, always thought he was pioneer. Apparently he's quite a high ranked squash player in the UK
Oh and was coached by Kelvin Skerrett and Tony Handforth- good but hard times

He certainly isn't. I once stood near him while he spoke to someone on a mobile in that weird, shouty manner he has, pacing and gesticulating his way up and down the pavement. After about 5 mins, I was convinced that there was a camera nearby and he was actually shooting a scene for corry.

| Being a taxi driver I have ferried a few well known people about... Robbie Paul...nice bloke, chatty and a good tipper! Brian Noble to his home in guisely, but I've known him personally for years! 'Brian tilsley' from corry when he appeared at Low moor club for a charity do. Billy Pearce..what a great bloke he is, told jokes all the way from wyke to the old penningtons and very generous with his tips! Mcnamara too..what a miserable tight d t wat he was when I took him to London twice. He just sat in the back and never uttered a word!
To avoid any confusion it was danny Mcnamara, lead singer from Embrace!

| A tale I have recounted before: a few years ago, when I used to go to the gym at Cedar Court and Bulls players used to use the pool, I bumped into a certain player (call him player 1) as we were both getting dressed in the changing rooms. My missus fancied the pants off said recently-signed player (as did more than a few others), but at the time she was laid up in bed with a buggered lower back from twisting funny at work, and was feeling pretty down. I was chatting with said player (as you do) and, in amongst, asked cheekily if he could do me a huge favour? If I rang my missus on my mobile, could he just say a quick hello and say hope you get well soon? Please please? Would make her day and cheer her up no end, cos you are her favourite player (true). Cheeky, I know.
Player 1 - to my pleasant surprise - said no problem...see me out in the gym reception in a couple of mins. Which I did. And I rang her and said here was a guy wanted to say a quick hello, and put Player 1 on. And he did exactly what I asked, addressing her by name and was real nice. My missus asked "who's this?" thinking it was one of the guys from the gym we knew. Player 1 replied "Its ......" and after she'd finally believed it was him, had a nice chat with her and asked her how she was and commiserated and all that...she was pretty gobsmacked and chuffed to bits - cheered her up loads.
While this was happening, Player 2 (who I had not spotted previously) came out of the changing rooms, and looked quizzically at us and I mouthed what was happening and he listened and got the gist. Then he asked for the phone, and did likewise, addressed her by name and got another huge reaction from the other end once he told her who HE was (another of her heroes at the time). When she asked him were we at the gym, the bugger said "has your husband been telling you we are at the gym? Are we heck, we're up at 'Top House having a few jars..." Bit more chat, and done. And five minutes from those two that did more, far more, to help her get better than anything else could have done.
I'll not forget that - can you imagine e.g most soccer players doing that? They were absolutely great with her, someone they knew only to be a fan currently crook.
Player 1, her hero, was a recently-signed Tevita Vaikona. Player 2, his travel-mate from Hull and with a twinkle in his eye and great sense of humour, was Steve McNamara.

I couldn't help but register and reply to this.....I can't believe people are talking about me in a forum, how cool is that. I got on page 3 of the local "L' Independant" newspaper too, and some French radio people tried to interview me!
That was a seriously good rugby weekend.
And yes, Aaron, I've worked out who you are, and Badger, I've worked out who you are.....you left me on the merry-go-round and walked off with the guys.
I'd better say something Bull's related then eh? Spiderman for captain?
As for famous people, I had my photo with Dirty Den in Angelo's restaurant in Bradford.....and I invented the cup-handle, so I'm pretty famous too.
And as a side-note, all you away supporters who think the mirrored windows of Odsal Fire Station prevent us from seeing you dumping your beer cans or taking a leek in the station grounds....you're oh so wrong....you might end up on Youtube yourselves......beware!!
Good luck Bulls in 2010.

| I went to the premier league darts at the Ricoh arena in Coverntry last year. We stayed in the hotel in the complex where alll the players and officials were staying as well. They were all in the hotel bar after having a drink and were all very friendly. Sid Waddell and Dave Lanning were sat at a table by the lifts and on our way back to the room we went over for a chat. I tried to talk to Sid a bit but was far too well gone by that stage and I had to get my missus to translate. Sid suggested that i let her do all the talking as she's much better at it than me.
Also met Alex higgins on a tain with my cousin. My cousin was sat on the aisle and he asked her to look after his cue and his bag and he ran up the train into the next carraige and beyond. This was just after the train left Manchester Piccadilly and he didn't return until it was pulling into Huddersfield.
And I once met Graham Gooch in Parcs.
