I had a quick look just before you did...looks like Ewwen maybe getting his classy centre

While he's not a regular for the Bulldogs he seems to be rated by their fans and his stats on the Sun Herald suggest he's better than what we have.

Hopefully he's bound for Odsal.

The only thing is, with all this talk of a new centre, i've just one question:

What about Jason Crookes?

He'll be used as cover next season then fill Nero's spot the season after.

We need more than three centres in the squad to cover for injuries and provide competition for places. This season has shown that, on occasion we've had to contend with the loss of Nero (our best centre!) to injury, a huge loss of form to Sykes, and the complete loss to injury of Crookes. That's left us struggling for form and penetration in the backs.

Playing Menzies at centre is ok but not an option for every week (even if his defence is a mile better than Sykes).

Not surprising considering the Star and Express are realy the same paper.

Didn't know that. I thought being an Express reader indicated that I was some kind of highley educated academic.

It is quite glaringly obvious where the weak points are though. Namely the wings and the halves. Rudd looks like he might be a decent player, but he's very much the unknown quantity. Sheriffe and Deacon are the obvious weak areas, with the likes of Kearney, L'Estrange and Hall around the "unknown" marks until we see them play in Super League.

Would be better. Dont expect much from Kearney, you wont be get it.

Id put kearney at fb and halley wing, toher wing can use either rudd or sherriffe, nero/millare centres..but then still got deacon and sykes at 6 and 7..unless we sign a good 7 doesnt matter who are on wings etc as ball wont go there.
Wehnwe got halley back from loan at wakey deacs put a couple of kicks down line for halley to chase having him in middle of park means we cant utilise his pace for this tactic as oppo will see him running, hopefully he can catch them out on wing.

menzies can go centres if millard/nero injured and one of whitehead/donaldson pop into 2nd row or crookes can cover centres.

Let's hope his signing is confirmed soon. He looks a class act and has some tremendous footwork and a beautiful offload. He looks like a wingers dream centre and would likely bring the best out of whoever played outside him.

He is a Shonnie type centre imo, he would be a good signing and I hope this isn't just another rumour. Once we sign him, we just need 2 half backs.



I think the idea of Kearney FB, Halley wing, Rudd + Sheriffe Wing could work.

I must admit I'd be pretty upset to see Halley shunted from FB. He has earned his position in the side and is improving all the time. He has probably been one of our top 5 performers and we'd be daft to move him to wing where I have been less impressed with him.

I know what you are saying, but if we were to acquire a better player for FB then there's more competition for both Wing and FB places.
