| FA - To be fair to Oafy , his first post was anything but trollish . On the in game thread he posted:
Was impressed with your hooker today, thought sidlow was really good, gaskell did really well,
I must admit when I saw walker lash out i put my head in my hands n said straight away he was off think we probably got away with 1 there, all your tries came up our middle probably a result of having 1 prop, our fringe defence was up to the job today you just bust us up the middle as expected, all in all the game was won with our backs being a bit better than yours (no offence)
best of luck for the season really enjoyed my visit (and the £2.50 a pint)

| Bullnorthern, I was at the game, not in the thread, and just responded wearily when I had posted a long discussion about the game, to be met with his poor one liner which seems to be just looking for a rise. As he has now admitted. He could have commented on what it was he so disagreed with and why, but instead just farted. If he makes a reasonable post it will be treated as such.

| Quote ="Ferocious Aardvark"Well, the expected defeat, but I hadn't expected to come away feeling so frustrated. First, the ref is not fit to referee, as no first class official could possibly see a prop punching a little hooker out, in cold blood, at a PTB, as anything other than a red card. The cowardly fckr should be banned 2 games for that but won't be as it was "dealt with". Who knows what difference a man advantage, and a prop to the good, might have made?
Also, we have player laid out and not moving, yet the yellow cretin was the only man in the ground who failed to agree the game should be stopped. He was 30 yards away and had no way of knowing if it was a bad head injury yet shamefully he played on. Utter pillokk.
Second, all season we have been like rabbits in the headlights under the high ball. Maybe it was a bit blustery, though surely not that bad, but we regularly just stand back and let the ball bounce, are we mad? Go for the fkn thing! If ya drop it, ya drop it, but this leaving it to bounce is suicidal - and so it proved.
Overall on the play, the Bulls looked if anything the better team, and in amongst, played some lovely stuff, and got some good tries. KR, in contrast, fed off our mistakes, git regularly lucky and took their chances, but while much of our play was at least as god as theirs, they were more professional and less prone to shooting themselves in the foot. Letting the kickoff go dead, just after scoring, is a great way to switch momentum. They scored. There is no excuse. They scored. Henry's ludicrous forward bat, on his own 40. They scored.
I went away frustrated, but unexpectedly heartened too. KR know they dodged a bullet, but I am glad we are out of the Cup, and whatever significance you attach to the game, it showed that we can put 30 deserved points past a top-8 SL side. And our aggression, and go forward was excellent. But Jimmy does need to do something about the pantomime defending, sure some was unlucky, and sure some (like the forward pass) was ludicrous, but you just can't ship 50 points at home.'"
Here goes
No 1 it wasn't a punch from walker he pushed him in the face
no2, I wouldn't say Adam walker is a cowardly fckr
No3 you had a 3 prop advantage all game
no4 there wasn't a head injury so game was correctly played on
no5 you say you were the better team then contradict yourself ,the game was even you wasn't the better side and our tries didn't all come off you mistakes if that's the case we must be 1 hell of a lucky team

1 The point is he floored O'Brien with a straight to the face and it was a straight sending off. It was a "blow" not a "push".
2 He did a cowardly thing and so what you would or wouldn't say is irrelevant. What does he say about what he did? Brave and fearless?
3 Sorry. I have watched the video and yes, you played with 10 men all game. My bad.
4. A man went down and wasn't moving, whether it turned out to be a head injury is irrelevant the point is the game should under the new rules be stopped. The team assumed play would be stopped and hesitated, which led directly to your try.
5. I'm not contradicting myself, I'm being fair to both teams. The game was indeed even, your winning margin certainly came off mistakes, and yes on the day you very much had the rub of the green. As you well know.

=#FF0000It was hard flat handed push, to be fair O'brien was niggling all game and spoiling for something. I did fear the worst from the ref but yellow was probably the correct call

The ref was shocking both ways, the point where he penalised us for holding down, the pulled ferguson out and warned about holding on was laughable. I thought he lost the game early and never really recovered. Still good game to watch, hope you lot carry on and have a good season, come middle 8 time anything can happen.

| My main gripe with the ref was his body language. Both sides scored a try when the defending team stopped to watch him as he went through the motions of blowing for a penalty without actually doing it. Hull KR first for the score that put them to 28 points, and then Bradford's next try was scored in much the same way.

| It was a good learning experience for our lads. It confirmed some things we already know and we learned some new things.
It showed the value of a good kicking game. We just couldn't deal with those bombs and cross kicks. There was no protection for the catchers to stop the HKR runners contesting the ball and there was far too little kick pressure on Campese and Kelly. They're both good enough without allowing them time to get the kick in.
Our kicking game was less pinpoint and never gave us much chance at getting the ball back.
I thought we played dumb football at times, pushing the pass and making unnecessary offloads in the wrong areas. It's good that we feel confident enough to chance our arm but some stuff was just plain daft. There were a few brainfarts from players who are sadly becoming a bit too well known for this.
On the good side we went forward up the middle all day. The pack was excellent and could've been even better with a fourth prop. My concerns about Walker in the centres were unfounded, he had a good game.
The ref made a few calls that I thought were debateable. The 2 on 1 steal on Addy was obviously ruled as a loose carry by him. That was a 50/50 call. But really, he shouldn't have needed to be fumbling to catch a risky offload from his teammate. We were a bit unlucky there but if we'd not tried the dodgy offload we'd not have been in that position.
The call where Baille was lying prone and play was allowed to continue looked inconsistent. I was unhappy about that but we must learn from it and not switch off. Play to the whistle!
The O'Brien "punch" looked to me less like a pre-meditated haymaker and more of a frustrated shove that went badly wrong. I'd like to see the replay. It was handbags after that. O'Brien himself says today it wasn't a proper punch.
The final score was a bit of a blowout and it wasn't that sort of game. I think with the likes of Mullaney, Purtell, Blythe, Williams and one of our props back we'll be a different proposition.

You know what the sun is shinning and I'm in a pretty good mood so i really can't be bothered to continue in a pointless argument we won at the end of the day so your right and I'm wrong enjoy the rest of your season and hopefully our paths won't have to cross again for a good few seasons

| I doubt a different ref would have made enough difference but a few different players, on either side, might have done. If/ when we get Rovers in the middle eights then I would hope we have learned enough about their strengths, and our weaknesses in relation to that. Of particular note was their kicking game and how we didn't do enough to deal with it. It's not like it's a new revelation that the wind swirls around Odsal. Ideally shutting down the kicks , or attempting to and having the right defenders in place to deal with what gets through.......Purtell is usually fairly good at standing strong at it.......A bit more success in that part of the game makes an obvious improvement. I think the offensive side of kicking depends on who is in the squad but for me we need more capability.....as in a wider spread of individuals. It's stating the obvious and I presume it's frequently worked on.

| Quote ="Bull Mania"Score line not reflective of the game. Add Blythe, Mullaney, Purtell, Siejka, Williams, Davies/Lauaki/Tahrahori to our side, we're much stronger.
Massively unlucky wih some of the calls. The two totally different calls for a head injuries are what infuriate fans. The ball steal looked two on one to me and the fight was farcical. How he got a yellow each from that was laughable.
Very proud of the team and we have NOTHING to fear come the split. Improve on a few things that are the difference at this level and we'll be ok.
Thought Sidlow and O'brien were outstanding and I though Walker had his best game in a bulls shirt.
While the result is gutting I think we can be really positive going forward. This team hasn't reached it's peak and has plenty of bodies to come back.'"
Quite agree. While the punch from Sidlow was seen by most fans at the game, the 'punch' by Walker was actually a push in the face which was admitted by O'Brien in the Bradford paper today. He could have won an Oscar award in the way he threw himself on the floor

No excuses for the lack of kick pressure.
But in the first half, HKR peppered our rt side defence with high kicks and they didn't get a lot of joy from it. Their catchers were under pressure and invariably we got the ball back in some form or another.
The second half, 2 things changed. HKR were kicking into the wind, so the ball held up more. But more importantly, our winger was injured and replaced at half time, leaving Walshaw (2nd row) & Henry as our centre/wing combo. And that didn't work with HKR scoring 3 tries from kicks down that side in the second half.
But they should have at least been under some kind of pressure.
As for striking - what was manifestly unfair was that both sides got the same penalty. I thought red for Walker & yellow for Sidlow, or yellow for Walker & a warning for Sidlow would have been fair. But ultimately, I'll respect the disciplinary verdict. If they hit Walker with a 1 match ban, then he should have had a red card in game.

| I don't think the fact a 'chippy' little sod like Adam O'B, came out, like an old boxer, who blood streaming from every orifice says, "He never caught me with a proper punch ref", changes anything; he knocked O'Brien off his feet, and personally, [iI expect[/i our 'big lads' to protect our 'little lads' when their 'big lads' start trying to show how tough they are by knocking them about.
We did lose it on the kicks though. Maybe we don't protect our catcher well because we don't expect them to try and catch it? Far too often we allow the ball to bounce. You just can't do that at any level and it's been a feature of our season to me. The one on the kick off was the worst of all though.

| Jimmy is going to have a selection headache once all our wingers are fit, because both Uaisele and Ulugia did really well yesterday I thought. Hopefully Ulugia's injury isn't too bad because Rovers struggled to put him down in the first half.

| He will have selection headaches all over when you look at calibre of forwards not making cut. He can handle it. I wonder how much of his preferred starting line up is clear to him.....or is there no such thing. Looking forward to seeing Davies again as he looked like he could do some damage.

A fully fit Bradford squad will give any coach selection headaches and I think the players know this. Perfect example would be Walker who yesterday probably had one of his best games ever in a Bradford shirt and I'd say that is at least partly down to the fact that there's very few players in the squad who are guaranteed a spot. So far I think there's only Gaskell, O'Brien, Sidlow, Clough and Pitts who you'd imagine would get picked without thinking. The rest of the team is very much up for grabs

| Any news on Gaskells shoulder, was clutching it at the hooter?
Proud of them yesterday, didint take a backwards step but the game got away from us in the final 10 they had abit more flair, and their kicking games was better than ours by far especially the high bombs that where taken by the wind, one point though our right wing was weak in defence didnt 90% of there tries come on that side?

| Walker charged with striking. Those bent barstads at t' disciplinary clearly are as blind and biased as me
Meanwhile in other news both Baile and O'Brien have been awarded BAFTAs for fooling everyone except a couple of KR fans.
And Specsavers have refused to feature Mr Thomason in their next ad, as there is no current product they know how to make that they could say he should've usefully got.
