I'd take Matty Smith. Always impresses me. Good kicker and organizer, would be perfect to replace Deacs. Super little player IMO.

Though I'm not sure whether I've seen him live he looks too big for a natural scrum half - a bit like Lee at Hull, or even Richard Horne. But he certainly gets involved. He's a good player, far better than the current incumbent, might end up as a good hooker eventually.

They have, but to be fair, he's gash.

Looked pretty good at fb when i saw him play, did pretty well in the nrl by all acounts.

No he didn't, if he had done, he wouldn't be coming back early.

This is unfair. He may not have set the world on fire but he did do well for himself. Certainly not a Brit who is coming back with his tail between his legs e.g. Mason, Sibbit, Thorman etc. He was certainly getting good reviews - perhaps the offer from Hull was too tempting for him.

I prefer to go by my own observations instead of reports, and I've only ever seen him and thought "he's crap, how is he doing so well for himself".

Having seen him play a fair bit for Leeds, I'd never describe him as 'crap'. He was never going to fit in at Headingley with McGuire, Burrow and Webb ahead of him.

IMO he's got bags of potential, and a stint in the NRL won't have done him any harm. Got pace, good support play and a good kicking game (IIRC him getting a few 40-20s for Leeds).

Well personally i rate him ,not quite the finished article but a good signing by fc.

That Hull derby where he made his debut pretty much summed him up in my opinion.
Some flashes of brilliance spoilt by some awful errors.

I would like to think our club still have high ambitions, despite this season's performance, and a title/cup winning side will need to rely on players far more consistent than Tansey.

Not at all, he wasn't to blame for that anyway, the officials were.


I've heard numerous people rave about him and yet I've never seen him play well enough to justify the hype. The two games I've seen him have for Hull have been just the same.

I'll wait for him to show me otherwise.

You can say what you want about MM 2007 but the Tansey showed pace and a real level of enthusiasm/professionalism to follow up a kick like that.

Did anyone else bother ? I think not and a 1000-1 chance paid off for him.
