I would say it's a pre requisite of any RL player to be able to tackle. The best defender on the pitch should be in the line stopping the break and letting the opposition gain field position.

in fairness, kearney was better yesterday in defence. if you have a really good defensive player you would want them to be tackling a lot more than a full back should.

dont know why we didnt go for him. But i wont slate purtell till i see him over here and tested.

dont think theres a great deal to choose between them TBH. Robertson is more a quick winger/fullback whereas purtell is more the powerhouse winger/ type. similar scoring averages but purtell has age on his side. decent signing for quins but wouldnt necessarily say hes better than purtell. horses for courses and all that.

hes a better winger than purtell but purtell is/can be a centre which is more an area of weakness for the bulls. because of this, i would say purtell is better for us, plus we dont know what salaries these guys are comanding.

Agreed, but we already have two wingers with pace in ainscough and raynor without having to use a quota spot. Think in our case were better served getting someone who could at least possibly play in the troublesom spots which we've done. Not saying Robertson isn't a good signing just that purtell is maybe a better fit for our squad.
