As several people have said, Fielden has never been the same since he got panned by Willie Mason. Also anyone else think his motor may of burnt out bit too early?

| I think Fielden would be a great signing, he's not as good as he was in 2006, but he's still a good prop forward and better than Craig Kopczak is and probably ever will be. Given his drop in performances and his status being lowered then I doubt it very much that Stuart would be able to command the dollars that he would have been able to say 3 or 4 years previously. If we could get him for a reasonable price then I would love him back at Odsal. People would still like to see Momoi here, I'd much prefer Fielden back. Plus he'd count on the homegrown list.

Prefer to promote one of the juniors instead.

| Don't really see what he would add to us now. Looked a shadow of his former self for a long time now. He did us a big favour going to Wigan and turned out to be daylight robbery by the Bulls.
We need to be concentrating on targets for the backline and a new playmaker for 2010.

| rather use money to ensure we retain lynch and persever with kopczak and james, who may not be world beaters but are decent workmanlike props and are certainly capable of spelling the three top notch props we already have. as has already been said any available cash next year must be used to strengthen the backline.

I have to agree. Too many upstarts are fancying a go with Fielden and he is just taking it. I think he is gone, its not just the Mason thing it was Radford almost sparking him and i remember seeing Ali lauittiti from Leeds scoring a try then patting Fielden on the head in a very demeaning way and Fielden just took it. Sometimes when you hit the bully back their world caves in.

| When he had a dust up with Jason Smith of Hull & Smith went off with blood pouring from his head I thought there really is no limit for Fielden as a prop forward. Now I literally don't even realise he is on the pitch.

| Bradford Shouldn't even think about buying Fielding, Regardless of the fact he's nowhere near as good as he was and that he hasn't been performing.
They have a pretty strong pack a few of which are new recruits (Menzies, Worrincy, Scruton) and they need to concentrate on securing some of the current forwards (Lynch and I believe Morrison if they can) There next immediate search then should be for backs. Specifically half backs. Thats where you need people and thats where your money should be spent. This year if you have space under the cap (which the bird approach suggests) and Tupou's contract is ripped up?

I don't think anyone at the club is really even considering a move for Fielden. It's just idle chit chat on here. Why would we want him? Unless he can play 2nd row of course?

Lol....I dont even know where that came from. Must be having a dyslexic moment.
For clarification I meant FIELDEN. As in Stuart "I got owned by Willie Mason" Fielden. Also may be known as Stuart "I cost Wigan the most ridiculous sum ever" Fielden. Depends which side of the border you lie...

It's beginning to **** me off now all this. Are our backs really that slow?
Platt, Sheriffe, Tadulala, Halley, Jeffries? They would pretty well match most for pace wouldn't they? Is there any actual PROOF that our backs are slow? Or is it just another of the myths bandied about about Bradford? (too old, too many kiwis, no British players, etc)

I Dont think your backs are slow. I do think (and i suppose this could be said about any player) that there is great improvement in them. As a whole unit they seemed to be a little uncreative at the start of the season. Deacon seemed very much a five drives and a kick player on the whole and Jefferies started off hit and miss although he seems recently to be trying his heart out.
Tadulala seems to look for work, coming in often and had a stormer yesterday IMO.
Sheriffe wasn't getting the service at the start of the season and again yesterday he seemed comfortable. I thought he saved a few tries when your sliding defence maybe wasn't sliding across as well as it could have done.
Halley is unproven for me this season but he's not done anything outstanding, I hope he'll come good.
Was good to see Platt have a good game, whats annoying about him is he is very capable but at the start of the season he wasn't performing. He had a tendacy to run across a field rather than up and down it, but yesterday proved he is a good FB. Bit of time now and he'll be back on form. Hopefully he'll recreate his World Cup form for you.
Calling the backs slow though I think is unfair. They've even over ran a few balls at Odsal this year. Analysis over.

| I would love to see Fielden back in our colours.
Terry can teach him to be hard again. He's obviously spending too much time with all these soft cock Wigan players like Hock, O Brother in law where art thou, and the big fat bloke who makes Solomona look a size zero.

| Fielden at the right price would be an asset. he has changed his game. When he was at his "best" he missed as many tackles as he made and his role was simply making yarsd and the odd big hit in defence.
Watch him next time the pies are on sky. His workrate is still very high and he places much more emphasis on defence, an area that we desperately need to improve. he wouls make up a great first four with Lynch, Burgess and Scruton, and Koppy and james can be the squaddies. that would be good.....at the right price.
Halves are the priority though.

| tough call this one, they always say never go back.
At the right price he could be an asset and we'd have the cap space easily even taking into consideration the need for some backs.
It would be a good marketing ploy as well due to his history with us.

| Fielden is now the class of player that, if he were called anything else, we would be up in arms about signing. He's had his best years and we need to look forward.

Do you think we went back when we resigned Paul Sykes to replace Ben Harris? In my book it was a backwards step.
