Bradford Northern have done a fair bit for the league. I'd have thought an old fart such as yourself might want that recognised.

If it were ever needed doesn't this confirm Gary Hetherington now officially owns the Bulls.

Another couple for your list:-

1. Utter bollox. You should get the first clue about the facts before posting. That way you would avoid drivel.
2. I think you'll find that there will be 12, 13 or 14 SL clubs playing in SL in 2013 and for the foreseeable, just as before.

| Bradford have gone out of business / bankrupt /administration on more than one occasion in their history. !
That must help keep the size of the leagues down, for the more for the sensible clubs that are left.
(Does RL need more clubs like Bradford or less ? )

Heh. We've had this. The club agrees with you, but Tony Collins has this to say.
Quote Of all the clubs currently playing rugby league, Bradford were the first to be founded in 1863 (actually one interesting point is that they were formed well before the RFU was founded in 1871).
I know some people argue that they went bust in 1964 or that the majority of the original club went over to soccer in 1907 and became Bradford Park Avenue, but there was/is a living continuity in terms of club administrators, players and supporters. Huddersfield were founded the following year and Hull FC in 1865.
Its important that we celebrate the history of our clubs - when the 2013 World Cup takes place it will mark 150 years of rugby league history. These clubs are older than the vast majority of clubs playing any football code around the world. Its a great opportunity for the game as a whole.'"

| Ha, go post that on that their "SL buy Bulls" rage thread, see if they like it.
Meanwhile, a lad put this on fb last night, he said it was ok to put it here.
Quote "I was first introduced to rugby league at the age of 15 when my French teacher, Mrs Burgess (mother of the Burgess clan) was called up to the women's GB touch rugby team to tour Australia. Bradford helped her pay her way there with sponsorship and raffle prizes and I ended up with tickets to 3 games. That was in 1997. I was lucky enough to get caught up with the steam train that was bullmania and I loved it. My spare cash was spent on a Jimmy Lowes shirt, my dad took my sister and I to all the games that season. Including Sheffield away when we won the title. I wrote an email to the club thanking them for their efforts on and off the pitch which was printed in the program at the next game. That same year I was the second pen pal listed on the bulls website, I met the first and we had a very small fling (as you do at that age.) The next season Phil Ellis and I sold program's behind what is now the coral stand.
Around this time I started to suffer with depression. I owe a lot to my family and friends (and Archie my dog) for getting me through it but a major part of my recovery can be attributed to the success the club were enjoying at the time. Every week I got to leave the horrible feelings behind and enjoy myself for a few hours. Then there were the presentation nights at penningtons (I shook Joe Vaganas hand in the toilet, my sister met her long term boyfriend and bus top parades in town. I would have taken a lot longer to recover without the bulls in my life at that time.
A few years later and the supporters/messageboard leagues were formed. I got to wear my team's shirt and represent the club, albeit at the lowest level possible. The club even supported us, lending academy kits and featuring us on the website and programs. I played with people that I should really have kept in better touch with. I played at wilderspool, The Shay and even at Odsal! I was presented with a trophy by the late, great Trevor Foster.
I once won the half time raffle and won a game ball which I ended up giving to my sister for her birthday. She still has it on show. I built a replacement forum for Stuart Duffy when the official messageboard got pulled. For legal reasons it never got used.
Living in Leeds, most of my friends are Rhinos. We drink, tease each other, scream at Ganson together... 2 months ago they turned up at Odsal to support this club.
In more recent years I've met people on the Odsal terraces who've become good friends and people I want to go out drinking with regardless of what happens to the Bradford Bulls club
If it weren't for the club id probably see my family at Christmas and weddings.
In all the above I've been careful not to focus on the sucesss we had at the game we play because for me, we're more than just that. We're a club of 15,000 people with a common passion. I've hugged strangers on the terraces in jubilation, screamed for my heroes, thrown far too much money into a pledge bucket and gushed like a school girl when lEstrange and Purtel tweeted me. If the club folds, I'll probably throw all my man cards on the table and cry a little.
This is what Bradford Bulls RLFC mean to myself and other fans"'"

Not really.
BPA (Bradford Park Avenue) didn't exist until 1907, it was Bradford Rugby Club which spawned BPA. When the split came the majority went to soccer and the minority took all the rugby gear, many of the players, a number of dissenting committee members and continued, all be it, at another ground, Birch Lane. Other than the ground there was nothing to change, they continued in the Northern Union with unbroken membership.
In trying to show a break in continuity you'd be more accurate to cite 1963 where the company really did come to a grinding halt and the season wasn't finished. Despite all, it's still a celebration of 150 years of rugby in Bradford next year - 1863 - 2013, and the roots of whatever is in place next year will still go back to those early days.

Well I would hate to pour water on any discussion that might affect our Future via our past 150 year history.
Our first taste of Rugby in the city of Bradford was QUOTE:"In the winter of 1863 a young gentleman named Oates Ingham, who owned the Lingfield Dyeworks in Thornton Road, Bradford along with some friends and colleagues from Framham college, formed his own football club. The game was a cros between Rugby and Footbal as we know it today. The ball could be caught but if a player ran with it his opponent could repeatedly kick him about the shins until he dropped the ball..The first home game was on Horton Grange cricket ground near to where St Lukes stands today, there followed a nomadic movement culminated to a ground move to Girlington..In 1866 to give the club a better profile Oates Ingham officially named it the Bradford Rugby Club, this was 5 years before the English Rugby Union was formed, In 1874 they moved to a more permanent ground in Apperley Bridge. unquote: Extracts from Bradford Northern the History 1863-1989 by Nigel Williams the official club historian at that time.
So gents if you wish to continue to argue Bradford Rugby Club 1863 (officially named 1866) founder Oates Ingham and eventually to be known as Bradford Bulls, carry on! If we have a club in 2013 I for one will celebrate 150 years of Rugby in Yorkshire courtesy of the Bradford Club.. (if we still have a club to celebrate it with) So COYB and our thanks to Oates Ingham!
