| Quote ="MicktheGled"Bradford are the ninth club to start selling 2019 season tickets. Halifax, York, Featherstone, Widnes etc... are already selling season tickets for next year.
Is there funding issues at those eight clubs? I think not.'"
Do those clubs have a history of not paying bills/staff and being in financial crisis every couple of years, meaning their fans have good reason to be worried constantly? I think not.
Quote ="paulwalker71"I just don't see how they can possibly start selling Season Tickets when there is absolutely no guarantee how many games there will be or what the format is.'"
They did exactly the same last year. The way they're pushing the "Loyalty" campaign is so transparent, it may as well be made out of glass. It's the same thing Chalmers has done since he took over. Constantly asking the fan base to be loyal and using emotional blackmail to make sure they cough up as much money as possible and hand it straight over to the club, playing that loyalty card to mask the fact that actually it's often a rip off.
If it was any other place you were a customer, you'd refuse and tell them where to go. But the emotional attachment makes people overlook it and hand their money over. And Chalmers knows that full well. And honestly, while thousands of people continue to do it, I can't say I blame Chalmers, as it works.

As far as them being able to take the mickey more than a standard company because of their emotional attachment, absolutely yes. I don't feel like every sports club in the world uses that to rip their fans off quite as much as others though. A little, maybe. But certainly to completely different levels.

| Like I said before. Halifax charged £190 without the 8s games. So a total of around £250 this season.i didn't see one fan complain.

There's a guy posting on the Leeds forum who had a VIP box last season, cost him about £8k for the year I believe. Next season Leeds are wanting him to pay over £12k for the same deal.
Next year my ticket will be £249. A few years ago it was £280.
Every club needs money from fans and in the end it comes down to you as an individual to decide whether you are being 'ripped off' or not.

But we [iall[/i know that club merchandise is, basically, a rip off and a way to raise money - and absolutely we would never buy from the Hight St on that basis. However we're not expecting any return from the high st, well, not beyond the goods. We [iare[/i expecting some return from the club though; we expect a competitive team, with proper back-up and coaching, all run as a professional operation with appropriate staff to deliver all that.
Like it or not, to use an abused term, we truly are stakeholders in all this and one way or another, if we want it, we will have to pay for it. A club, any club, costs. A succesful one costs even more. No-one's arm is being twisted and the "emotional blackmail" is nothing more than reminding folk of that awkward fact. Whilst I fully accept that some will find it difficult/impossible to pay higher prices the vast majority have a simple choice and anyone not happy can just refuse.
The club has made a judgement that the majority will go along with its decision. Let's hope that is correct.

I don't disagree with any of that. And I for one am in the camp of choosing to refuse. I won't go into all the reasons why again (it's been done to death on here), but your mention of a professional operation with appropriate staff is certainly part of it. I think that's one place the club fails, albeit not on the field and in the coaching department.
I think you're right in the club has to decide if they want to charge the higher price and risk people telling them where to go, or charge the lower price and risk not enough people taking it up to cover the money they need. Either way, you'll have people unhappy. And I wouldn't want to be one of those making those decisions!

| The thing is, these are not the prices for next year. These are Early Bird prices.
So, the club is forcing people to take a gamble - not only on which league we'll be playing in, but how many games they'll get for their money and that the club isn't about to go belly up again and leave them with nothing.
Especially given the fact that this "offer" is being run at the back to school time of year when most families budgets are either depleted from a summer holiday or have got school supplies to pay out for for the kids going back in September.
Last year Chalmers promised that season ticket prices would NOT go up for this season. But he got around that promise by only offering the lower price on another Early Bird offer which didn't advertise it's end date until the 11th hour.
Given the crap that the supporters of this once great club have been through, I don't think it's unfair to question the current clubs motives especially when it seems that they're happy to move the goal posts when it suits them.

The early bird runs until the end of next month doesn't it?
The announcement on the league structure is happening within the next two weeks so that leaves you plenty of time to decide.

Yes, plenty of time. However, on the strength of today's performance, I don't think I'll bother paying £225 for League 1 rugby if it's all the same to you.

| Last regular season game is on the 23rd September (Hemel at home).
Assuming the Bulls are in the Playoffs and the Early Bird Deadline is indeed 30th September as Mr. "In The Know" says, that would mean the Playoff Semi Final will likely be the day of the deadline and the Final will be AFTER it. So people would need to make a decision on whether to buy a season ticket at the lower (but still quite high) prices and risk still being in League 1, or to wait to see if they get promotion and pay even more.

I noticed this too. I suspect they'll end up extending the early bird deadline, depending on what this league structure announcement brings...

| Wonder if the Worky players had also read our launch and Mr Chalmers talking about what we need for the Championship.. maybe they fancy a crack at promotion too? You'd have to say they look a good bet for taking the 2nd promotion spot via the play offs right now.

| Anyway, getting back to topic.
Has anyone on here been and bought a season ticket, or has intention of doing before knowing what league we're going to be in, how many games it covers, or what the price is after the early bird? I know the Bulls tweeted a few people bought them straight away, but I'd be interested to see what kind of numbers have actually stumped up the cash under the current terms.

| I've no doubt a few will have bought them regardless. I'm waiting until the end of September as I'm pretty skint at the moment. By then at least I'll also know what league we're in. It's an increase in price but then prices have gone up across the board. Inflation affects everything.

Not if we don't finish top. The playoff final won't have been played by the end of September. The Semi Final would be on the last day in Sep.
