I think Macca is doing a good job right now but really this is too little too late and if Hood had the cohones he'd make the change.

As I recall didn't he say a successful season was having a good run in the play-offs? I.e. not just making up the numbers?

If he doesn't want to sack his mate then he could always save face by moving him upstairs. Leeds did this and they won a GF the same year.

Even if Macca makes the play-offs he has to go because it will have been relying on the misfortune of other clubs rather than us making our own destiny. A good run in the play-offs would redeem things for me i.e beating our first opposition and valiantly losing the next game but I doubt this would happen.

Well he got Wigan out of the bottom of the table. They have had a good dig in the play-offs under his stewardship. I reckons he do better job than Macca tbh

Yes he did, i'd suggest this was his highlight of his time at Wigan (excepting a certain playoff debarcle which was not so much his good coaching but our bad play and Trent Barrett) and it was aided by the lift that any new boss can bring and the signing Dobson and Fielden...did they not then break the cap that year as a direct result of the mid season signings?

Might do, might not, I think it might be a closer call than some think for 2010, (in regular season games since they both took charge its 52-49 in wins to Noble over McNamara BTW stat fans) but either way, with the position our club is in I do not think it would be a positive move, IMO of course.

Thats not great on Maccas part seeing as our 06 and 07 squads were far better than Wigans.

I wouldn't say the 07 or 08 squads were that far apart, only in 06 did we have a significantly better squad in my view, and this year wigans is turning out better (and that in itself is an argument against McNamara I realise because its his squad) and ours has been a squad in decline one way or the other since 05....but I get your point.

First result of the weekend goes our way.. as Hull can no longer mathematically make the playoffs.

Now we need Wakey to beat Catalan, KR to beat Warrington and Cas to beat Quins as Cas are pretty much guaranteed their spot as they won't lose to Celtic.

Wakey/Catalans is the major one. That HAS to be a Catalans win, or we've got no chance (since Celtic are not going to beat Cas).

Aside from that, one of Quins or Wire need to lose too, as they play each other next week.

If Quins and Wire both win, or if Catalans win, we're as good as out. If Cas win too, we ARE out.

If Cas lose, but Quins, Wire & Catalans all win, we ARE out.
