| Quote ="Denver Sun"2 questions. Does the City Circle bus route still exist? or is there a better way to get to Odsal from Wellington Road/Dudley Hill Road (Giants game).'"
No more City Circles.
It's listed on [url=http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/yorkhumber/bradford/map/Bradford_Network_Map.pdfthis map[/url (PDF document) as going down Bolton Road but I don't think they actually exist anymore.
The 645 goes down Otley Road and up Manchester Road as far as Odsal Top.
Alternatively the 640/641 goes from Bolton Road and will take you up to Wibsey roundabout, which leaves you with a pub crawl to the stadium.

Also, surprisingly no bus route from Queensbury to Odsal surely I can't be the only person who doesn't want to take the car.

| Yes indeed its a disgrace and whose gonna put their hands up to it?
Should not the councillors and executives be prosecuted jointly and severally for criminal vandalism

| Maybe its a cunning plan to reduce Inner City Crime.
Thanks for the answers regarding bus routes, maybe I'll see some of you at the Giants or Wigan game.

| Bobs you so right. In my considered view, it is vandalism on an industrial scale. Also its a flawed premise that by building a shopping centre, you can 'regenerate' a city.
Bradford problems aren't that we don't have a Harvey Nics, its unemployment, poor health, low skilled workforce and a general malaise. Civic pride sounds such a lefty phrase, but we need to give the city something to be proud off. Something that's doesn't necessitate a local population with high disposable income.
First x acre city centre park?

| Council chief executive Tony Reeves said: “The Council always works hard to provide value for money for our residents and the leadership of this Council set the lowest council tax in Yorkshire and Humberside in this municipal year.
“Bradford Council is the fourth largest single-tier authority in the country and we are responsible for making sure we provide the services residents want and need. The wages we pay are comparable with salaries for similar jobs in other councils.”
Alright who ordered the big hole?
If they provided what residents 'need' then it would be free buses to Leeds,Sheffield or Manchester so they could do some shopping.
It's a crime what they've done to Bradford. Never mind though Billy Pearce has been confirmed for next years Panto!

Yep, it may sound overly simplistic but if you can make the city centre somewhere people want to spend time then businesses to serve those people will naturally start to spring up.
Bradford will never have a big thriving commercial centre because there is one of them 9 miles away, it has to offer something different rather than simply try schemes to mimic which invariably fail.

| I know that a few million quid of European Grants went toward the fit out of the Forster Square site with utilities. I wonder if it doesn't go ahead if they'll have to pay it back?

you go to the best European cities, and the biggest draw isn't shops. Now BFD is never going to be a European city of choice, but its not too much to ask to make it a place where local people like to spend time. Come on councillers, put a bit of gray matter behind it, do some research (not the type where you ask representative sample - they'll just ask for a faster horse).

By the way todays [url=http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/local/localbrad/4162534.Broadway_shopping_centre_put_on_hold/T&A[/url has finally decided to cover the story everyone else has known for years.

Don't be silly. I've never known it be anything other than the council newsletter. The thread on generic Bulls stories applies to every aspect of the T&A's business, it's not just Bulls access they'll bend over to get.

| Eaton & decisive action in the same sentence
I walked from Forster Square station to the FC on Tuseday at 6.30pm. I passed one person on the whole mile walk. I counted less than 10 people looking all round the city centre. Not one cafe did I notice was open, one empty 'curry' house (I use the term loosely - it was the former Commonwealth) & no pubs. Apart from Pictureville I can't think of a reson to visit the centre of Bradford.

| This is SO depressing.
I left Bradford in 1980 to get work.
Since that time I've seen from a distance Bradford's decline and Leeds rise as the dominant city in the region.
For the past 12 years I've lived near Liverpool. It's renaissance culminating in the "Capital of Culture" year last year has been incredible and something that Bradford's Council should note.
The "Liverpool One" retail development could so easily have been a similar hole in the ground but as it is it has been an outstanding success - attracting many visitors/shoppers back to Liverpool city centre... what did Liverpool do right and Bradford do SO wrong??
