| Quote ="mystic eddie"Hall is awful. After Kopczak he is the worst forward in our first team. And I include Worrincy in that too.'"
I wish you wouldn't say "our". You have nothing but bile to spew about the club, and pretty much everyone connected with it. You seemingly think the playing staff and coaching staff are all garbage, duds, awful or poor. So what is it about "our" club that you actually are a fan of? It can't be the toilets, surely?

| Quote ="mystic eddie"Difficult to say where we would be in the table BB as only a clueless idiot would assemble the back line that McNamara has put together. Anyone else would not have done so.'"
You're right he should have recruited Slater, Inglis, Folau and Thurston. WHY DIDN'T HE? I demand to know. Surely this is a no brainer.
Quote ="mystic eddie"
For that matter, Le'Strange, Godwin and especially Glenn Hall are exceedingly average too. His signings have been, on the whole shocking.'"
Indeed. Why didn't he sign Cameron Smith? We all know he's far better than Le'Strange (sic) and Godwin at hooker. As for Glenn Hall. Pah! Surely we should have kept Burgess against his will. That'd shown him.
Joking apart, L'Strange has been one of our best players this year by a long chalk. Godwin and Hall while not setting SL alight have both had their moments. How many games have you actually seen this year? As for the backline, yep it's not great but we haven't the budget to get one much better? How do you respond to this most important point?
Quote ="mystic eddie"
As for the new man? There has been mentions of NRL coaches but I do not feel best placed to comment much on them as I do not follow the NRL but from the people over here I would take Millward and Paul, McDermott. Mick Potter or Justin Morgan, should any of them want to come.'"
Other than Millward, who's honours were with a super Saints side many moons ago, what have any of those coaches actually won? The Bulls have this season overtaken HKR who operate on a bigger budget than us. Apart from a nice shoe collection what has Morgan got? McDermott was being absolutely slated on the Quins board recently and the've had some fearful thrashings. Paul's got zilch coaching experience. Potter I would take in a heatbeat but he's off to Oz.
What do you see in Morgan and McDermott? Why Millward considering his abysmal showing at Wigan and the fact that he seems only able to win things with a top quality squad? And Robbie Paul?
Quote ="mystic eddie"
I assume the new man will indeed come from the NRL if the rumours are to be believed. Time will tell though but the sooner it happens the better. How so many people have stuck by him for so long is bemusing. He has been a shameful appointment.'"
Get a grip. Shameful my big hairy ar5e. Get some perspective. It'd be shameful if he was downloading midget porn on a club computer whilst having it away with the academy side but I think you're being way way over the top. Yep, he's presided over a decline in fortunes, coached us to some fearful hammerings and appeared lost for ideas at times but you can't put it all down to him, there have been other factors at work, don't you agree? Or is it all down to McNamara and nothing else? We're getting a change at the end of the year whether we like it or not. The club is recruiting asd we speak, you can't ask for more.

| Tbf to ME, I would much rather have a centre taking up a quota spot than Hall But..... we have needed cover for both front and back row, and he's been okay wihout being spectacular. Plus - that try vs Wigan! He'll come good, i'm backing him to anyway.

one thing to remember is we allegedly signed hall a year before he came based on his 2008 form. That said I paid attention to him a bit in 2009 because of rumour linking us to him and so far he hasnt come close to the sort of performances he was putting in last year. Can't help wondering if he's another carrying a knock tbh.

Tbf he's had alot to deal with emotionally since then too. He's still had some good games and there's plenty of time yet.

| Hall is not the big enforcer forward that Macca would have had you believe when he was announced. He never has been, and it took him a long time to get a regular spot in first grade in Aussie. Glenn is as average as they come.

| Not quite lived up to expectations yet. But then, neither did Big Les or even Big Joe early doors. Glimpses there, for sure. Would like to see a bit more sustained delivery. But, as always, there may be things we don't know about.

| Given he was signed to play second row, if we ever got a full squad before the end of the season then I would imagine Macca will play him where he intended to. Which IMO, would be harsh on Whitehead who has by far been a more consistent performer than Hall this season.
Would like to see Whitehead given a rest if we got chance though.

What crap. Hall played first grade in NRL in 2002 when he was 21. Before we signed him, aged only 28, he'd played 65 games for Manly between 2007 and 2009, scoring 11 tries, and in the end was nudging the legendary Menzies out of the starting position.
He was a starting second-row in the NRL Grand Final winning team in 2008, when Manly beat the star-studded Melbourne Storm. So yes, you could call him average; that is, if you were a total rugby ignoramus who knew as much about rugby league as the average stickleback.

I never said he didnt play NRL when he was young, I said it took him a long time to secure a regular spot.
Look at him now, back to Mr Average again, he's done naff all thus far and he wont do anything in the future. He's average journeyman, but then again, some of the players you think are good and some of the nonsense you come up with it's hardly unexpected that you think a plodder like Hall is anything but average.
96 games from 2002 - 2010 - WOW, That's some record, really impressive. Whats that, about 12 a year?

So is that 65 games in 2 seasons 07/08 & 08/09? That is a lot, even with a good cup run and playoffs our guys would max out at 35 games per season

| I tend to find that generally, Hall has done ok when he's been on the field. He's had a few games where he's made a real impact, but others where he's not done a great deal. Aside from the first few games when he seemed to be a penalty machine, he hasn't done a lot wrong.
The problem for mine with him is the lack of time he spends on the field. Surely this wasn't the case in the NRL, so it makes me think he's either carrying an injury or just isn't fit. I know he got a bang in the last match and that was clearly the reason, but it's been a regular occurence to see him do a 15 minute stint and then go off the field.
It's all well and good being a good player, but if you only spend half an hour a game actually on the pitch, it's not that much use.
I'd be interested to see the actual stats for how long on average per game he's been on the field. Perhaps I have just perceived it wrong and he actually plays more than I thought.

That's a bit random considering they play different positions.
If you compare him to someone like Jones-Buchanon, who has played the same number of games, Hall doesn't look too good, especially considering he is taking up a quota spot. If this is simply a game time issue, you have to wonder why Hall isn't being utilised more. That said, even Lauitiiti who has played five fewer games and doesn't spend a long time on the field has better stats than Hall in many key areas.

He's had his moments but I don't think anyone is arguing he's been great. "Naff all" is just silly. "Back to" Mr. Average is meaningless as his record is anything but average. As you ought to know.

Quote ="Bulls4Champs2010"He's average journeyman, '"
An NRL Grand Final winner, who displaced Menzies in a championship team, (and with the record I quoted 2007-09), cannot with respect on any view be described as a "journeyman".

Quote ="Bulls4Champs2010"96 games from 2002 - 2010 - WOW, That's some record, really impressive. Whats that, about 12 a year?'"
What? You base your assessment on some weird random sums? Does the fact that he did not, in real life, actually play 12 games a year count?
The games he actually played in each year are a matter of record, and I pointed out the most impressive spell 2007-09 following which we signed him. You know - the relevant bit of his career. A man at the top of his game.
What's funniest though is your conviction that you, better than anyone, know 'the truth' about Hall. The career of a forward who anyone who knows anything about the NRL already knows was a key pack ingredient in the 2008 Manly GF-winning team. He did the business for them all year long, and he and they were superb. Neither I nor the Bulls called him "the Rig" - that was a moniker that he earned in the NRL. So there is basically universal support in both hemispheres, not to mention the opinions of Steve Menzies and the Manly club, that Glenn "The Rig" Hall came to us as a very good player indeed. And then there's you, who thinks he's a 'plodder', who never did anything and never will. I'm sure the rugby league world was rocked by your thoughts, and the history books will shortly be re-written to reflect the truth you have revealed.

Thier both playing impact prop, its a fair comparison! By trade Halls a second rower, yet he hasn't played thier much this season, if at all!

| Let's not forget he's now being coached by McNamara as opposed to Des Hasler, and is also playing out of position. Something SM seems to particularly enjoy doing to his squad of players.
It took him about 1/4 of the season to realise Kearney was far more effective at FB, something everybody on this board knew before he had even touched down in the UK.
I quite like Glenn Hall. Despite one or two handling errors (which most players make) I think he has a decent step for a man of his size, makes relatively good yards and his defence is faultless.
He also scored the winning try in the match against Wigan, so he's already a legend in my eyes
