| Serious question, how does Omar khans compare to the Punjab or international? Off on Saturday and can't decide between top curry or loyalty. Would like to do both

Starters in Punjab, mains in Omar's, pay in International.

| I'm just re-reading the latter end of this thread for possible inspiration.
And just to let anyone who may not know, that Prashad has moved to Drighlington, 137 Whitehall Rd (A5icon_cool.gif.

| A group of 14 of us went to Kerala in Shipley a few weeks ago, it is very similar in menu to Prashad. Despite us telling them what time & how many the service was appalling - 2 hours for mains to come, mains brought out then rice following 15 minutes later. Like Prashad it is veggie (as are most of us) but frozen carrots & peas in a curry sauce is hardly authentic south Indian. It has excellent other reviews but perhaps they posted them themselves.

| Well this is probably worth a bump with today's shock news.
I may have to go for a curry at Omar Khan's to doff my cap.
Rice or naan.

| Anywhere of a particular high standard as of late? Going to watch the game in a pub somewhere followed by a curry.
Pub will be decided on based on where the curry is..... normally go to Westleigh followed by Omar's, but defiinetly due a change....

Could try the Karachi. Pretty much over the road from Omar's so you could still watch in the same pub.
I've never had a bad curry from there, and they are pretty decent prices

| The pub? Yeah. The same guy owns the Westleigh and the Delius now. Much improved in both compared to a couple of years ago.

| I have not been for about 3 years when some friends came for a Bradford reunion. It was pretty grim then.

| I can't speak for the clientèle but the guy who runs them now used to run the student registry at the Uni. Easily one of the most organised and on the ball people I've ever worked with.
Not that the skills are directly transferable but a big problem with a lot of those sorts of places is they end up being run by people who like standing on one side of a bar and fancy having a go at standing on the other rather than people who have even the slightest idea of what they're doing.

| Yeah, pretty much doubles up as the student union bar now.
The Westleigh used to be great, granted about 15-20 years ago (showing my age now), I even worked behind the bar for a period when my mates mum and dad ran the place for a fair few years.
It's definitely a lot better than it was, say 5 years back, when it was grim.

I used to spend a lot of time in there too, about 20 odd years ago! Glad it's looking up, always liked it as a pub.

| Probably. I was there a lot in those days, as well as in the Shearbridge (more likely) and MacRorys.

| Absolutely delicious curry in the Bharat on Great Horton Rd on Wednesday night. Had Petisse for starter, (sort of deep fried spicy coconut and potato ball) really really excellent. Then chicken methi for main, lovely but the methi/fenugreek smell is coming out of every pore even now. Mrs Bullseye had a mixed veg dish with okra, potato and spinach done Madras strength. Was really tasty.

Spooky. 92 onwards was my era. Though as I wasn't a student & found them annoying little scrotes I used to like MacRory's which was favoured by the Arch Sci intelligentsia, the department where the tigress worked.

| MacRory's was great. It's a sad sight now looking utterly derelict. I remember some great graffiti on the bog door:
"I SHALL NOT REST UNTIL I SEE THE LAST COMUNITARIAN HUNG WITH THE ENTRAILS OF THE LAST BLAIRITE!"
and then underneath:
"what a load of pseudo intellectual b0ll0cks".
and then underneath that:
"Inky pinky ponky"
"Daddy owned a donkey"
"Donkey died"
"Daddy cried"
"Inky pinky ponky".
