| So who do YOU want to see as the new Coach? And where do you feel this team should be in the table if they didn't have a 'clueless idiot coaching'?

that might have something to do with the amount of money you paid to an average ex union player thus not being able to afford to build up a quality squad anymore.chins up

Difficult to say where we would be in the table BB as only a clueless idiot would assemble the back line that McNamara has put together. Anyone else would not have done so.
For that matter, Le'Strange, Godwin and especially Glenn Hall are exceedingly average too. His signings have been, on the whole shocking.
As for the new man? There has been mentions of NRL coaches but I do not feel best placed to comment much on them as I do not follow the NRL but from the people over here I would take Millward and Paul, McDermott. Mick Potter or Justin Morgan, should any of them want to come.
I assume the new man will indeed come from the NRL if the rumours are to be believed. Time will tell though but the sooner it happens the better. How so many people have stuck by him for so long is bemusing. He has been a shameful appointment.

| 3 things stood out for me yesterday.
1. Lack of direction/kicking game. Sykes is way too predictable and hudds read him very easily. This will be addressed when we get our 2 main playmakers back. If neither are fit next week then we have to throw southernwood in. He may not be ready physically but we'll just have to protect him as best we can.
2. Lack of energy/players carrying injuries. We've had 2 very physical games the preceeding 2 weeks and probably over achieved in both (despite losing) considering the players we had out. This meant we looked very flat this week which was highlighted even more due to fact hudds had added benefit due to a week off. Lynch is obviously carrying a knock and this is being dealt with. Hall looked to be either suffering the same sickness that made orford miss, or the knee he took to the head early on affected him more than we thought. He certainly seemed to stop and feel his jaw a few times, not sure what thats indicative off. We need langley back asap and we'll almost certainly have to blood crossley/burgii in lynch's absence assuming we cant get a loanee. Even if we move langley into props we'd have a small backrow which would cause further problems. One option maybe to move nero into 2nd row and utilise wardle in ( although I'd wouldnt pair him with halley as that would leave us with 2 smallish players on one side which would be exploited.)
3. rub off green. I wouldnt argue with any of penalties we did give away however it certainly seemed that hudds got away with quite a lot that went un-penalised. It certainly wasnt 46 points worth by any means but a more balanced reffing performance would have meant we weren;t constantly on back foot.
massive effort needed next week now to get back to winning ways.

| Indeed it will Mat. We need some fit bodies back. And certainly no-one getting banned. We'll certainly look a lot better at the back when Kearney is back, and our kicking game when him and Orford are back. Whether its Halley or Reardon to the wing I guess is a bit of a moot point at the moment. Do wish we had some news on Langley...worrying.
At least the youngsters thrown into the fray this year have acquitted themselves well. I know Macca and the coaching staff prefer to drip-feed youngsters into the top flight - understandably, IMO: there are too many lessons from the likes of Wigan about what happens if you throw too many in too soon - but we are rapidly running out of options I'd say? I don't hear the knockers giving the coaching staff any credit for the crop we have knocking at the door right now. A number all at once, compared to the old days when you maybe got one or sometimes two a year at most.
I'll be in the air courtesy of Jet2 when we play Crusaders. I'll get someone to text me the score for when I land, then I'll prob be browsing on my phone in the taxi on the way to the hotel. I hope I read some good news!

thats the worrying bit for me about todays t&a piece. Specifically says kearney and orford back for crusaders but no mention of langley, and this despite him being a week away for last 5-6 weeks. When story broke about us looking for a loan forward last week I wondered if it was because langleys injury was worse than they were letting on. Then when I heard lynch was going for surgery I figured the loanee was to cover for lynchs planned absence. Now reading that in t&a I'm not so sure. Langley certainly seemed to be moving about fine helping in warmup last couple of weeks.
And how big did tom burgess look at halftime yesterday? looks bigger physically than kopczak imo and must be worth a gamble next week if can't get a loanee. I fully realise macca doesnt like throwing the youngsters in en-masse or too early but addy and wardle have both settled well and dont look out of place. sometimes needs must.

| They may too, at that. Although I would have thought Crossley was nearer the nod, and Lynchy spoke of him in the same sentence as Donno, Whitehead and Olbison recently. Not seen him play for ages though so not really able to comment.
Mission and I were in a meeting up at the new (brilliant) training centre last week. You saw folk walking past the part-glass door, and could see their heads and who they were (I think we might have only seen the top of Ox's head had he walked past...). Then it went dark, and all you could see was someone's chest up to the top of the window on the door. Yup...one of the twins. Apparently Medders can tell them apart just by looking at their chests, which was 'appen as well given his head was somewhere in the stratosphere. Big? Doesn't even come close, mate!

I suppose it depends what you deem exceedingly average I suppose. I think L'Estrange has been among one of our better players this year (the MOM rankings seem to back this up) so for the time being I think he has been a good signing for us. He also come across as the sort of player who is great for team morale. Hall has been inconsistent at the Bulls, but has had some good matches for the Bulls.

Your shortlist gets thrashed all the time, save Potter who got turned over despite being twenty points up, one week after losing at "7 nil wont do" Salford. I reckon this coaching game is harder than you make out.
In other news, you've really shown your .rse with your dig at L'Estrange. And you can bang on about Reardon all you like, your preferred star signing is sewing mailbags as we speak.

| It's been tread before but our first choice team, fully fit, can go toe to toe with anyone in the league. Unfortunately, we're in a position where our lack of real depth has come back to bite us. We all knew there was a chance of this.
But, if we're still lacking Kearney and Orford this week then McNamara needs to bite the bullet and throw in some of the fringe lads like Southernwood and Crossley. We can't play a 3rd game with the makeshift combo of sykes and le'strange. either with a proper half back is ok, but both together doesn't get the job done

the key problem is the lack of in game kicking options. Can't say I've noticed l'estrange or addy kick at all and sykes nearly always waits till last tackle and then takes the kick under pressure as opposition know he's our only kicker. Also distance we're getting on penalty kicks is dissapointing to say the least ( but thats a problem we had with deacon too iirc).

L'estrange has been a great signing, he's tough, dynamic, has good distribution and disguise. He's also a team player, works very hard and if you'd seen him yesterday he was still rushing to form scrums, gee-ing players up and making the effort long after it was lost. He's also great around the club, and good with the supporters, or so I'm told by someone who should know. He's a very shrewd signing and one I applaud.

Come on Eduardo if you are going to describe L'estrange as "exceedingly average" you really have unrealistic expectations. If anything with Kearney and Orford out injured over the last few weeks he's now for me our best signing for this season and one of our better players at the moment.

Godwin, yes.
Hall, does a job but not worth a quota spot for me.
L'Estrange though has been excellent and consistent for us all season, at least when he has been playing 9. The partnership when he is playing with Ordford is as good as anything in the competition.

I wish you wouldn't say "our". You have nothing but bile to spew about the club, and pretty much everyone connected with it. You seemingly think the playing staff and coaching staff are all garbage, duds, awful or poor. So what is it about "our" club that you actually are a fan of? It can't be the toilets, surely?

Indeed. Why didn't he sign Cameron Smith? We all know he's far better than Le'Strange (sic) and Godwin at hooker. As for Glenn Hall. Pah! Surely we should have kept Burgess against his will. That'd shown him.
Joking apart, L'Strange has been one of our best players this year by a long chalk. Godwin and Hall while not setting SL alight have both had their moments. How many games have you actually seen this year? As for the backline, yep it's not great but we haven't the budget to get one much better? How do you respond to this most important point?

Other than Millward, who's honours were with a super Saints side many moons ago, what have any of those coaches actually won? The Bulls have this season overtaken HKR who operate on a bigger budget than us. Apart from a nice shoe collection what has Morgan got? McDermott was being absolutely slated on the Quins board recently and the've had some fearful thrashings. Paul's got zilch coaching experience. Potter I would take in a heatbeat but he's off to Oz.
What do you see in Morgan and McDermott? Why Millward considering his abysmal showing at Wigan and the fact that he seems only able to win things with a top quality squad? And Robbie Paul?

Get a grip. Shameful my big hairy ar5e. Get some perspective. It'd be shameful if he was downloading midget porn on a club computer whilst having it away with the academy side but I think you're being way way over the top. Yep, he's presided over a decline in fortunes, coached us to some fearful hammerings and appeared lost for ideas at times but you can't put it all down to him, there have been other factors at work, don't you agree? Or is it all down to McNamara and nothing else? We're getting a change at the end of the year whether we like it or not. The club is recruiting asd we speak, you can't ask for more.
