Probably, but he was 1/1000000000000000000000 on so I doubt you would get much of a return.

From Guardian:

Interesting bit:
Quote Lee St Hilaire, previously McNamara's assistant, has been put in caretaker charge until the end of the season, with Paul Medley and the veteran Australian forward Steve Menzies also available to help out. But the Bulls hope to confirm their new coach for 2011 by the end of the week – to provide a much-needed boost to morale around Odsal ahead of Sunday's home game against Salford – with Mick Potter, the St Helens coach, who was Bradford's first choice despite his stated desire to return to Australia, now thought to be ready to accept the position.'"

| Quote ="Ewwenorfolk"Mixed feelings.
Right decision by the club though. For whatever reason, since McNamara accepted the England job we've gone downhill. Admittedly, injuries have played their part in that, but they cannot be the sole reason. Whether McNamara has been having less input, or whether he was leaving St Hilaire with more on his plate remains to be seen. However, with recent results and performances it was the right move. In this sense I am pleased, it will shut up the moaners who say our board have no back-bone and hopefully it should at least improve the crowds a little.
It definitely feels like the start of a new era though. I believe next season will still be a transitional one, although with some of the personnel we have we should definitely be aiming for the play-offs.
There is no doubt that McNamara was given a very tough task to do though. Plenty of people do not realise how much work he has put into matters off the field, and some know, but will not take it into account whilst looking at his tenure. I am disappointed that it has had to end this way though, and I really hoped that we could send McNamara off on a high - he's always given 100% to the club (maybe not lately whilst having a dual role), he hasn't complained about the tough circumstances he's worked under, he has got on with his job. I hope (and I believe) that we will see all of McNamara's pay off in the future, so the ones who thought he should have been sacked 2 years ago will go quiet. Nobody can deny that on field we have seen a rapid decline, but that would have happened under any coach because of the cuts we've had to make. The fact that McNamara has tryed his damned hardest to keep us competitive, whilst working on a tight budget and also overhauling the entire youth structure and making sure we have the best setup we could deserves applauding. If we had not built the new training facilities, or invested more in youth we may be looking at a Bulls team that had still never missed out on the play-offs, but what McNamara has done behind the scenes needed to be done, and whether the haters like it or not, he's doon bloody well in that aspect of his job.
I wish Steve well and wish him the best of luck in his new job. If we see the current crop of youngsters go on to be part of a champion side in the future, then I know that McNamara will have played his part in it. Even though he hasn't won anything in his tenure, he has left the foundations for a coach to come in and build a bigger future for our club.
Thanks for everything Steve.'"
Well said that man!

| I just wonder who all the neanderthals on here who blamed McNamara for everything, will blame if the players fail to perform again on Sunday against Salford.
Obviously any defeat from here on in for the next 3 years will be down to the 'legacy and disgusting state he left this club in blah blah blah'.
Gotta feel for Steve, in my opinion (and mine only) he did a very good job under strained circumstances, and the club is probably in a better state throughout the whole playing roster than it was when he took over. Probably was the right time for things to change I guess after a trophyless period, but the work he has done cannot be ignored, and hopefully we look back 5 years down the line and are extremely grateful and recieving of the rewards Steve McNamara has begun to reap.

I don't want to argue or be petty, but if Potter decides to keep hold of say, Reardon, Worrincy and Sheriffe next year I don't look forward to reading your posts.

So I really DO suggest people are careful about throwing potentially libelous statements around on here?

It's also pretty disingenuous to suggest "he has been sacked and I believe that no matter what the official line is".
The critical mass is, their utopia is achieved, he has gone. End of. How he got there is really of little consequence other than for some posters to showboat some more.
Have a little class folks, Steve Mac has gone, let him move on and perhaps do the same.
Then welcome Mr Potter...

| Note: Pure Speculation, not in any way to be considered fact.....
I would guess it's not really a case of him being sacked, more a case of the Bulls now not being bothered about him staying on.
When he took the England job, he no doubt would have liked to have left Bradford then and there to concentrate on his new job. However he agreed to stay on with the Bulls as they had no other option at the time (and likely the Bulls would not have allowed him to take the job if it meant him breaching his contract). Now, the club realise that keeping him on doesn't really serve much of a purpose considering where we are at this point in the season, so it's mutually beneficial to allow him to go and concentrate on his new job, appease the large amount of fans calling for him to be released, and bring in a fresh(ish) approach to the coaching for the last few games of the season.
When he first got the England job, the club did not believe it was in their best interest for Steve to leave. Now they believe it is, and it's mutually beneficial for him to leave now.

Quote ="Tony Smith""I've got no doubt it would have been a tough decision because I know how much he's put into that club and how loyal he has been to that job in pretty tough circumstances in terms of resources and what he's had to work with," Smith - who had McNamara as his number two with England - added.
"Without disrespecting the players, I think he's done a tremendous job to get what he's got out of the players.
"He's also done a fantastic job setting up the junior side of that club and, as long as they keep that going, they could have a very rosy future."'"
Tony Smith is impressed with what Macca has achieved with the "resources" he has to work with.

Im not bothered what the official line is from Peter Hood or anybody at the club, I dont really think that much of them or what they say, Adey. Left by mutual consent means different things to different people, you know what it means to me so thats what it will be.

I don't think anyone's trying to tell you what to think, more to be careful about what you publish on the forum for the sake of rlfans as it's them who get it in the neck if anyone decides to take issue with what you write. If you stick to what is official i.e. mutual consent, the forum is safe from libel action and others on the board can choose to read between the lines and interpret that statement if they wish.

The fact remains it is the version that remains both the legal one and actual one whether anyone supports or believes it. For that reason, any suggestions to the contrary are simply wide of the mark.

I was really just trying to back up Adey in the quote you posted. I should probably have quoted that instead! Adey was trying to make the point about what gets stated ON HERE, not what your personal opinion should be.
