As everything has to be agreed by the RFL it will be interesting to see if any new owners "decide" to play at Odsal next year.

Well, it’s an investor group. Most people realise there’s no way to make money from a rugby club, only land development. The key thing will be whether the council & Rfl come to the table with their parts of the puzzle

A change of ownership is something which, I guess, we can all live with. Why do we always expect the worst? I suppose because we've got used to it always [ibeing[/i the worst.

I guess everything is up in the air, though it's hard to imagine that the move to Dewsbury would be changed at this stage unless the 'fit and proper person' stuff includes agreeing to play at Odsal (and paying the RFL most of the income..) No doubt, as usual, we'll be the last to know.

Absolutely! Chalmers is the only person who, at face value, has left us in a better state than when he joined us that I can think of in the 20+ years I have followed the club. Time will tell whether face value is all it seems, but I'm not burning my as yet unbought season ticket quite yet.

We were tenants. He’s changed us from tenants at an eye wateringly expensive ground to a relatively cheap ground. He’s cleared the decks to allow the new owner a discussion on the budgets he wants to run next year. I assume we’re not in administration (that is important) as it is described as a sale so the buyer must be comfortable with the level of debt?

Where has a change of ownership suddenly come from? It wasn't on the horizon a couple of weeks ago when Chalmers was 'selling' us the Dewsbury move and pushing season tickets. Has he gone willingly - or was pushed (by the RFL, one may speculate)

I think the devil is in the detail, some of which we probably won't ever get to find out.

On the face of it, yes you could say Chalmers had nothing to begin with and left us in the championship and not in admin. After all us fans have had to endure, just not being in admin feels like a momental victory.

But the stuff about pensions and Rogers comments and Ethan Ryan's dad's tweets, there was something seriously wrong going on. Not paying pensions, refusing to give players MRI scans (according to Ethans dad) make uncomfortable reading.

I sincerely hope with the new owners those sort of basics of how we treat our players and businesses are dealt with professionally. Those things are far more important than on field performances in the long run.

Also the identity of the consortium is being revealed in league express and apparently he won't like being revealed.

League Express stating that outstanding money owed to creditors is part of the reason for the special measures.

Suggesting it's the club not paying it's bills as to why they're not allowed to sign players. Not spite. Who'd have thought it? Actual reasons rather than tinfoil hat conspiracy theories.

Based on the LE article it is clear that the special measures were not a petulant act by the RFL because the club gave notice they were leaving Odsal. Significant debt despite having some of next years central funding already and the need to use some or all or remainder to deal with issues away from the field.

Chalmers was clearly running the club beyond its means and his selection as the preferred owner and the fact he has been allowed to put the club in such a position again are where quite rightly, the RFL have questions to answer.

Also mentioned in LE that the issues with the pension payments are in 6 figures. That's quite an administration error.

But yes, the club has definitely been left in a great state by the outgoing chairman.

I don't get why the RFL weren't clearer to start with. All it takes is an explanation. Sounds like we will have to do what Wakey did and come to an arrangement to pay debts off.
