| Just been announced on Radio Leeds that he won't be offered new contract as Bulls are looking at other options. Beaver was interviewed and said he has another season in him and would be looking for new Super League club.
Difficult decision for Potter to make as still inspirational but possible that next year could prove to be one year too many. More probable is that he will have a stormer for someone else though!!
Looking forward to giving him good send off after Wakey game!

| At least (we) the fans can give him a proper send off. Potter needs to bring in someone of real quality to justify letting the Beaver go.

| Assuming the poster has reported faithfully, its Morrison redux.
Powder dry on this one until we see what the "other options" amount to. As BB said, will need to be quality indeed to justify letting the Beaver go. No doubt he'll go to Wakey... Hope its as amicable as it can be.

| In rugby terms that just doesn't stack up. Everything Menzies has done indicates he has at least a year left in him, if it was 2 or 3 years he was after I could understand it. Unless it is actually about money.

| If it is correct (surprised Connor did not get it first if so) then maybe its more about the quota spot?

| Gutted, he wants to stay at the club, he has done more than others to ensure another year so we let him go just like Morro last year, to all those who think we can replace him with a better player just ask yourself can we afford it NOT. In my opinion just another poor decision by whoever.

| It all depends on what the other option is really on how I feel about this.
If Potter is after a specific target that requires a quota spot, and we can only get that target if we sign him now and on more than a 1 year deal, you can see the reasoning.
I just hope the other option is a long term one or a position we are more lacking in, as I can't see any like for like replacement being better than Beaver and it will be sad to see him go.

| Menzies has been great for the club in difficult times but he will be turning 37 next season and he is quota. Hopefully he will be replaced with quality, i wonder if Flannery has been lined up?

Unless it's [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Dale_FlanneryTHIS[/url Chris Flannery, in which case I can see the uses.....

| Connor has just tweeted re Menzies.
Full story tomorrow apparently, but seems as though it is indeed true.
Can't believe he might actually end up playing against us next season, really struggling to see the silver lining on this cloud right now.

Sad to see him go. Hoping the replacement is (a) as good (b) as committed to the club. Don't let us down Mr Potter!

| sad news, not at bradford a great deal of years but will be remembered very fondly. a class act and a shame more of his colleagues couldn't raise themselves to his standards.

| I do hope he's being freed up to offer a top Aussie 3 or 6 a longer term deal.
Can see the reasoning why he has been released, but you can't help but feel disappointed.
He has been a shining light of these last two seasons.

| Disappointing. Our best player and looks like he could go again.
But as I said a few weeks back, given the rebuilding job we need to do in the backs it might be a required sacrifice. If Potter sees Menzies as only a back row forward we are well covered there. If his cap space/quota spot is used wisely in the backs/halves then I can see the logic. If we replace Menzies with another Hall type player then I'll be disappointed.
I'll wait and see the full rebuilding plan in context I reckon before passing final judgement on this.

| This is a absolute disgrace by who ever made this decision. Menzies has played his heart out ever since he signed for us and is a real fans favourite. Anyone in superleague would have menzies in there team regardless of his age. The guy still has the quality. Im so gutted about this and defo thought he deserved a new contract. And i know that this news wont go down with bulls fans as he really has been a stand out player for us since he tried. The fact he wanted to do another year and was refused really does make you think the bulls have made yet another massive mistake. Shame on you who ever made this decision

I agree with both those comments, he's been a true professional and given 110% every time he pulled on a Bulls shirt, he's almost single handedly carried the Bulls during his time here.

Suggest you keep your powder dry until you see who we sign for next season?
What, for instance, would be your stance if the club said they had been ready, willing and able to sign an Aussie international 6 or three-quarters, in their prime, for 3 years ( ) - but could not because they knew the fans wanted to keep the Beaver for another year?
Devil's advocate maybe, and I'm very disappointed to see him going - he exudes quality and class, and put the graft in when it was clear some others could not be d - but we do have a limited overseas quota and I'd prefer to hear the whole tale before knee-jerking?

What he said.
Who's next cab off the rank at the Storm? Sign any of their stars and Beaver will, sadly, be just a quickly fading memory. And yes, i am almost passing out from clutching these straws too tightly!

| It's a shame to see possibly our best player of the last 2 seasons leave us. But we have to be pragmatic on this score. He is going to be 37 next year and even Stanley Gene thinks that's getting on
He also takes a quota spot. This gives Potter room to bring in a proper 6 as IMO halves are where we are weakest.
However, I hope the club will be acknowledging we have had a living legend playing for us and give Steve Menzies the proper send off that he deserves.

| Any decent marketing team would use this as an opportunity to generate a bit of purpose to our final home game (along with Hood's half time announcement) and hopefully raise the attendance somewhat.
