Please can we ban the phrase "for mine"?

It is surely the worst example of meaningless and sloppy English. On top of which do you really want to sound like Mike Stephenson?

What about spelling out T - R - Y? Very Annoying.

It's one of the few things he says which doesn't annoy me intensely. I caught him briefly on the show following the announcement of the licences. he said something like "At the end of the day it all boils down to finances", eureka I thought. A few sentences later "It's about the fans, not finances".

I t-r-y to ignore it, but for mine, a far more irritating thing is the imaginary conversation. I think Andy G-r-a-y was the worst exponent of that before S-k-y sacked him.

All part of Friday night Eddie and Stevo bingo that adds a bit extra to a game. Classics such as......

Stevo - The merry whistleblower, T-R-Y, For mine, Rob Berrow, how about a one pointer (3 mins in to the game)

Eddie - Scampering run, home of the Champions, He goes for a 40-20 (when the attempt is anything but), only St Helens could make a comeback like this......

I can understand 'for mine' but I'm clueless as to the meaning of 'and my bad.'

Not enough mention of 'big units' these days. I also miss the 'bang, get out of the way' comment when a big forward goes crashing over, perhaps we just don't see those kind of tries as much with the decline of the Bulls



The 'when will the coach get the message out' is one of the more irritating Stevo-isms. Although maybe those are just from the games I've watched featuring Leeds recently.

This appears to be leading to a Super League on Sky Sports drinking game...

The most irritating for me is Stevos' "Mick Potter/Richard Agar/Justin Morgan will be absolutely furious" For goodness sake Stevo change the record or ideally, after 20 years just move over and retire.

My original rant was about the use of "for mine" on this message board as it appears to becoming more prevalent and increasingly annoying! I would like to request the moderators ban it forthwith!!



I do admit that Stevo's use of the dreaded words & his many other nonsense cliches do also irritate immensely.

Can we also ban the word "Formica ®", because every time I hear somebody start to say it, I think they are going to say "for mine" , and by the time they get to the "ica®" bit it's too late, the damage is done

I have been engaged by Formica Limited, who wish me to draw to your attention that Formica ® is a registered trade mark, and as such must be capitalised and followed by a ®.

In restitution for the debasing of their hard-won good name and standing, and in recognition of the billions they have spent in building up the brand, they have indicated they will accept £1,000,000 in damages, which they have asked that (for tax reasons) I collect for them through my own personal bank account in Basle. Details being sent as we speak.

Capitalisation, in specific areas (as in, for instance, just when appropriate) seems to belong to a bygone era, a bit like Formica®, dare I say?
Btw, I'm not sure you've got the idea of scams. Isn't the bank account supposed to be in Nigeria and accessible only by Western Union®?
