With regards to the point of this post for some reason people seem to give too much legitimacy or status to things written on the internet, just like you'd ignore the idiot in the pub talking rubbish about the game why get worked up about someone writing rubbish?'"
I think the biggest difference between the pub bore and the internet warrior is time. Hot air expended in the pub just goes into the air and disappears as fast as it comes, whilst equally worthless junk on a message board remains in situ until......well, I don't know, probably until the server gives up the ghost and all posts on it are lost. I think it's this (semi) permanence which probably gives unwarranted weight to written work, even message boards.
Maybe, as well, people realise that it's just so much easier to make comments in the pub without engaging the thought processes? After all you can't edit what you say in the pub, and when it's said, it's said. I think though, there is an assumption that a bit more thought has gone into written work, simply because it takes that little bit more effort, which means people are likely to take it a bit more seriously. Not always a good idea, of course.......
