At my place of employ we have over 200 CCTV cameras (we are, afterall, the most watched nation in Europe) & a brand new state of the art control centre with 32 screens. I know that Bradford Uni CCTV links with the city, I would expect other major institutions do also. It is not financially or physically possible, or desirable, to watch everything continuously, even if under CCTV. They are used as much for gathering evidence as anything, & consequenlty as a crime deterrent in that area.
