The competition is designed so that it is possible for the scenario you describe to happen. I wouldn't complain if Bradford DID win the GF this year (I'd be a bit miffed at the side currently top of the league to blow things in such a spectacular fashion though!).
It's a bit like tennis scoring. You could lose 2 sets, five games and be three match points down without winning a single point, but then come back to win the match (unless you're a woman

). Not likely but certainly possible and most definitely within the spirit of the competition.
