The Hull game was his full debut, and he was up against an on fire Hull and Yeaman who taught him a few lessons in play. IMHO he improved each time he played and it was massively bad luck that he got injured when he did. With more chances and a consistant run of games he could be a starting for us in my view.
With Nero, Crookes, Platt (!), Sykes, Menzies a quality strike would be more than useful but not essential IMO. If Millard is that who knows, but it looks unlikely to me.
