SAINTS have named their 19-man squad for Thursday's First Utility Super League Round 2 trip to Salford Red Devils.

As expected James Roby misses out through injury whilst Dominique Peyroux also has picked up a knock.

Morgan Knowles and Calvin Wellington have both been called up.

Obvious move is Fages replaces Roby and Turner goes to centre with Burns at 6 but there lies the problem, where's Burns what's up?

Well, Burns hasn't made the squad and Charnock isn't there, so one can only assume he'll go Fages at Hooker and stick with Turner at 5/8. That would surely mean Wellington playing centre.

The other option would be to put Turner back to centre and play Wilkin at #6; but shouldn't we be trying to nurture a consistent halfback partnership.

Turner to centre in place of Peyroux.

Fages to stand off in place of Turner.

Knowles to hooker in place of Roby

I'd go with this, we should be wanting a consistent half back partnership. Keep the Walsh/Turner combo.

No! Jones and Flanagan is more than enough

And i reckon Jones is a cracking player be better suited for the back row but at the moment with no Sau & Vidot we have no choice but to play him in the centres

Hope we don't play both Knowles and Wellington in the 13, its obvious Fages needs to play on a pitch he's very familiar with and I would have him replacement for Roby. If Wellington gets a shot and he finds the jump to this level too much then we can go Wilkin to hooker Fages to stand off and Turner to centre, none of these strangers to these adjusted positions.
Don't know what other position Burns can play as per KC's statement, centre or hooker perhaps but we have cover in these positions.
Hope its another wet boggy game, our forwards can slog it out for another win.

Turner to centre seems the sane option. Surprised Dawson didn't make the line up, is he injured

Never thought I'd say this but it's a shame JT has to move back to the centre as I thought he did great at stand off. He's a runner and this allows Walsh to play his usual game.

I think Walsh likes to be the main man, the organiser, the ball player and that means he suits having a running stand off and Turner provides this.

I'm never confident going into a game but having seen that Salford squad surely we must come away with 2 points. I like Lui but that Salford pack is shocking imo

I'm not convinced he will move Turner. Wouldn't surprise me to see Wellington come in.

We really shouldn't be on our 2nd halfback partnership in the first 2 matches. Not too keen on using Turner at 6, but we should keep him there and let them develop a partnership.

A game we should win but without Robes, it will be vital that Luke Walsh or Jon Wilkin has a stellar game I feel. Slightly miffed about 9, if Fages doesn't play there. They will be up for it, particularly their former Saints.

I see that source of yours hasn't improved any.

Abit disappointed that we have to change our half back combination a week before we play Sydney Roosters as I thought Turner and Walsh performed very well in last weeks win against Huddersfield. Tonight is about getting the job done and minimising the risk of injury to any key players as much as we possibly can. Salford could be a wounded animal tonight and will want to hit us hard from the start tonight, if we can get over that initial 20 minute period the game should become slightly easier for us. Hopefully a good win tonight can send us into next week full of confidence, I know some people view next weeks game as a "glorified friendly" but personally I hate losing to any Australian side if its the National team or a club side.
