| Guts in spades. Not a bad player among them.
Can't ask for much more in terms of the necessities required to be a champion.
No disgrace in losing with no halves. Especially when you consider they only just staggered over the finish line with a fluke bounce and a kick through.
IIt's painful losing to such a pitiful Wigan team (by derby standards) but you can only take so many iinjuries to top players before you are dragged down to also-ran level.
Get the lads fit and we'll end them.

| Sorry but swift deserved the critisism on the Hull KR game last week as I said at the time..
Quote ="bewareshadows"I'm truely shocked by the number of people willing to lay into this team at the first loss.
6 wins count for nothing but the 1 loss suddenly proves everything about how terrible we are.
All that loss proved was that we can't go unbeaten all season. Warrington also lost last night and they were one of the favourites with us to win SL.
Leeds beat Wigan last week and neither team looked especially dangerous.
Maybe just maybe the teams are a bit closer than people like to think.
Swift was aweful, would I drop him based on that? No!
I'm just glad the coaching staff seem a little more level headed, because if some people in here were in charge we'd be a bunch of surrender monkeys the minute things did not go 100% in our direction. It's sport, you lose occasionally. Get used to it.'"

Still seems to have lost a bit of speed, then again all our backs seem slower.

| He caught the high balls well, but still ran the ball into touch with the one chance he had. He's no winger.

He was a bit ambitious there, but there was only a minute left so you can forgive him for going for broke. On the whole he was excellent, not just under the high ball but reading Wigan's edge attack too.

| Walmsley and LMS were outstanding, and the defense was superb from both teams, although both teams were almost unbelievably average in attack. Saints had the excuse of missing their first choice halves (although Hohaia has played in the halves at the highest level), but Wigan were dreadful with the ball.

I don't think the is a better prop in super league at the moment than walmsley.

| Thought Dawson had a decent game yesterday especially in defence, don,t remember him missing any tackles and was solid. He,s guaranteed a few more games in a settled position so hopefully that might improve his game.

He looks a carbon copy of a 28 year old Jamie Peacock, rangy build, terrific work rate, and has a sneaky offload to his game. He's definitely one of the best props in the comp at the moment, only Cuthbertson comes close and he's played as much time at LF as he has at prop (not that there's much difference anymore).
Graham
Walmsley
Hill
G Burgess
They would be the 4 England props at the moment, and I'd have Cuthbertson at 13.

| Dawson proved some of the doubters wrong yesterday, very unorthadox in defence, no technique at all but gets the job done. People need to realise that with a salary cap you can't have a squad full of first teamers. Dawson comes in and does a job whenever called upon, nothing brilliant, but nothing horribly bad.

| Apart from a little youthful over exuberance from Richards I couldn't fault anyone. Really toughed it out. Bear in mind that even under the illustrious coaching of Millward and Anderson - far too often Saints chose to meekly capitulate at the first sign of Wigan aggression. Thankfully this side is made of sterner stuff.
As for Swift, I can't deny a certain sense of satisfaction seeing him take the criticisms of the usual band of professional Saints mourners and return them to where the sun doesn't shine.
Look, Wigan had to win yesterday to a) stop Wane's career from going "Strike Three" b) prevent the bottom half of the table from becoming home and c) revenge for OT.
Given the above and us fielding no attack they looked WORSE than OT. On their OWN GROUND. With their OWN REF!
How is that possible?
It's regrettable that injuries thwarted us from a deserved victory. But we can be patient.

Definitely in an England 17 if the game was tomorrow.

I'm not convinced on cuthbertson yet. To early to make a proper judgment. I wonder if he can play when it gets tough. Looks more like a ball playing prop that doesn't like the rough and tough.

| Cuthbertson should be nowhere the England team for the simple fact that he's not English. Not into all this grandfather clause business at all.

His dad is from Warrington. Cuthbertson meets the criteria so he should be considered, whether his form warrants selection at the end of the season is another matter.

Agreed. If he was in the class of Paul Gallen or similar I could understand it but he's been a decent NRL player who is doing well in a competition that is quite as good.
We've got five better props straight away anyway (Graham, Hill, Walmsley and Burgess x2).

We don't have any back rowers as good as him though, which is his primary position.

Is it? He's been a prop for years in the NRL hasn't he?
As for back rowers not as good as him I'm not sure. O'Loughlin is better and we've got a few on a par I'd have thought although I agree it's an area of concern.

It has been for most of this season. Back row is our weakest position (except the halves, obviously), hopefully some of the youngsters that seem to have started the season well will be good enough by the time the next WC rolls around but at the moment, apart from Flanders there's nobody whom looks to be ready to play test matches. Plus if we're honest, there's a pretty good chance O'Loughlin won't be fit. I hope he is though, and I could see him and Cuthbertson playing in the same back row.

Wigan had there own ref?
You are in fact Peter Pan ie a child in a man's body.
Yesterday was a tough arm wrestle with neither team showing any real quality in attack.
You had several key players missing as did we and I look forward to when we meet with both fielding near full strength teams when on paper I make you favourites.
PS sorry we had to play you at HOME
