| We didn't deserve a thing from that. Burns's pass was 5m forward and Wilkin's was pretty debatable too.
Where do you start tonight? You start by saying Hull KR are shocking. Defensively woeful, their wingers and fullback can't deal with any bombs and their back row and centres could tackle a bowl of Weetabix. They didn't even have a pack on the field tonight, Green was about their only forward and he spent the game charging round committing fouls.
The backs tonight were shocking. I've never seen a half back showing as bad in years, and that's saying something given how we've set for half backs. Neither of them did anything good tonight and they gave that game away with some incredibly naive, stupid, lazy ball play. Saints got the ball into their 10 repeatedly and didn't threaten the line once in that position. It was just a lazy, scripted swing one way or the other with a lazy pass to the first player. Burns's defending is also a massive concern, he can smash second rowers but he drops off other players and just doesn't read anything properly. He's cost us several tries already this season. Swift shouldn't be playing for us for a long time, not until he's proven he can play in the youth team for an extended period. Turner/Jones/Dawson did nothing wrong, but nothing right either.
The pack didn't do enough either. They had a clear advantage and didn't capitalise on it. WTF was Cunningham playing at with his use of Mose? With his size against that pack from Hull KR, he should have been doing 60 minutes, not 8 in the first and 8 in the second. Every time he got the ball in the second half he got 15 metres plus, why not have him crashing onto the ball near their line? We were always going to lose our unbeaten record, I had thought it may be next week however. Tonight was unacceptable, the kind of performance that can ruin a side's confidence. If we'd gone in tonight and played it all through the middle and been more professional and clinical near their line early on and we'd have walked it tonight by 20 plus.

| Having said all that though, HKR should have been down to 12 men for most of the game.
However, we were pants, and the coach has to take as much responsibility for that as the players. Hopefully they will see how shocking they all were and will get their act together for next week. We may have no halfbacks, a makeshift hooker and a makeshift fullback but we know how to play Wigan now and so we need to get back our attitude and win on Good Friday. Nothing else will do.

| We was awful and apart from the Warrington game we have been awful in the majority of the games for long spells.
You cant criticise our forwards as you said we was constantly in the Hull Kr 20. Our backs are unfortunately one of the poorest in the league. Dawson, Swift, Wilkin, Hohiah and Burns would not get in that Hull Kr team playing in the backs. Not one of them.
Keirons tactics of using the forwards constantly is also shockingly bad. As soon as the game was gone we decided to seperate Burns and Wilkin and shift the ball and we created constant overlaps. This for me is coaching and following a plan.

I've been saying all year that we haven't played well. We had loads of luck this year with teams bombing chances against us. Only salford and Warrington game we have looked decent.
Our defence been poor all year. To many players missing to many tackles week in and week out. It's the same old faces as well missing 4 tackles each week.
Our attack is also hit and miss. If Burns has a off night like tonight we in deep s*it. We have no strike plsyers in the back line at all. All the backs rely on a pass to make a break, none can actually make something out of nothing.

| We have no match winners. We have no Kallum Watkins or Albert Kelly etc.. someone with that bit of pace who can turns a game in a split second. And for me them players win you grand finals (Rob Burrow for example). We can grind out results and our forwards can demolish teams but for me top backs win you games.

Walsh, Lomax and Percival (the latter to a lesser extent) fit that bill. Let's not throw the baby out the pram. The plus side (if there is one) is we'd of lost that game by 40 last year. The positive last year is there was always a response, we need one now.

Albert Kelly is as big a negative as a positive. He did absolutely nothing tonight bar catch those two interceptions and run.
There aren't many Kallum Watkins level players in Super League. If there were they'd all be researching properties in Sydney like Watkins is spending his time doing. We've not got a bad set of players, the approach and level of professionalism and execution weren't good enough tonight. We're not a great side, but neither are any of the other sides in SL. I'd say we have probably the best 17 if we could get them all on the pitch. We can even afford a defeat to Wigan as long as we beat Hull. Things are that bad, tonight was just a shocking performance. It happens from time to time. That's not to say there shouldn't be repercussions from it, Swift's place must surely be in doubt now.

| Walsh wont split the defence and go 60 metres when our forwards are taking a battering. Lomax before 2 cruciate injuries had the potential and Percival at the minute does hav ethe potential to be that player.
We dont have anybody who can go round the outside or over players and make 60 - 70 metre breaks. Not one. When we was the top dogs Bradford had the pack we had the backs. That's what wins you the Grand finals

I know. But neither does anyone else, so it doesn't really matter. Leeds have probably the best backs in SL and they are an injury to Cuthbertson or Peacock away from being nothing. Get Walsh back and we'll be fine this season. Tonight was just a dreadful performance.

We do lack a strike player in the backs. We have for long time. Percy could be a strike player and I think he will be in time but at the moment we don't have a player in the backs or the forwards for that matter than can make a break out of nothing.
Teams will have no fear kicking down the throat of any of the fullbacks we have covering lomax as none can beat a man.

He's an exciting player, he'll score plenty. He'll cost you plenty as well, his mistakes and dodgy decision making are the reason he never made it in the NRL.

You'll like this (not).
I thought we missed Wello. HiHo was dreadful in both positions and TM is not a full back - he has no idea how to link with the attack. Wello is still the best option after JL.
I think we will be without Burns and Roby next week. We will have zero playmakers, so our pack will have to play union style.
I agree we were awful across the park with only TM and Walmsley having decent games.
We kept thinking the game would turn our way then panicked when it didn't and got two lucky tries from running it on the last.
I feel sorry for the loyal fans who went.
The only thing is, this is looking like last season when we had some truly awful games, no playmakers, lots of injuries, lots of slagging off on this forum etc etc

I agree, the problem is we always get these fickle, kneejerking fans whenever we come up with a loss and the slagging experts come out to play.
We played under par and lost the game get over it and support the team win or lose and move on.

Nonsense. All Wello would have done was make it look like Kelly was Usain Bolt as he chased back to see if he could get back before Manatello had popped over the conversion. Wello also wouldn't have linked in, as we very rarely got past the first pass from the half back. They either put a stupid kick in to no runners or passed it the gap between them and the next Saints player to see if any Hull KR players fancied a run. We could have had Greg Inglis or Darren Lockyer playing fullback tonight and they'd have barely touched the ball all night.

Wello would of given us a lot more stability at the back than Hohaia did.

Pah, nowt wrong with a little constructive criticism. We can't hold hands and skip round in circles all the time. The players and coaches aren't beyond criticism, Burns, Wilkin, Swift and KC will have plenty on their minds after that showing. Make or break for us I feel now. We got to Wigan and get hammered and it'll be hard to turn the tap back on, go there and win or go close and the good start and Wigan and Warrington's poor start will let us off the hook.
This is the first test of KC the coach. He's done a reasonable job so far, but made plenty of mistakes tonight. His use of Mose from the bench was wrong. He should have played 30 minutes a half, his size alone would have caused them real problems, with Alex and Vea taking second balls after his runs. We could have played cynically tonight and won comfortably, instead it looked like the cast of Allo Allo playing tonight rather than the Super League champions.

Hohaia didn't spend all that long there did he. I don't see which points Wello would have stopped? He might have got to Dixons's in time to berate Travis Burns for his awful defending, but he wouldn't have stopped anything. He wouldn't have stopped the one Swift dropped as he wouldn't have got there until they'd already scored.

Mose couldn't last 15 minutes tonight let alone 30 - did you not see the huge gap he left on the line for Campese to run through? He did some good stuff in his second spell in attack, but was dire in defence.

Both Swift and Makinson have made great breaks for us during their times on the wing, as has Percival and Turner. This season alone Turner has made a couple of great breaks. He set up a great try for Wilkin just last week.
Deary me. Some people have short memories. What we didn't have tonight was two functioning halfbacks, and we lost Robes which meant a big shift around again. Thanks to those misfiring players at halfback we were chasing the game as they gave two interception opportunities to the fastest halfback in the league who everyone knows loves to outrun everyone.

| The one player I have a problem with is Mr Average Flanagan, for the life of me I cannot see what he brings to the team. He would be lucky to get in one of the lower teams in the league. Yet, he seems to be immune from any form of criticism on here, for some reason. He was poor again tonight, but again the usual suspects get the abuse!

He was anonymous. But is was a game where 17 anonymous players would probably have seen us win it. Burns and Wilkin have averages games and we win by plenty tonight. They were there for the taking and we executed appallingly and didn't even try to put pressure on them near the line.
