From what i'm being told it looks like he will be joining the NRL very soon. Not signed a contract with anyone yet but in talks with a number of clubs and wants the move. Absolutely gutted about this, a real gem this kid.

Still has another year on his youth contract iirc so if he's going anywhere it'll be next year not this. His mothers post on the other forum certainly didn't paint the picture of someone on the move imminently...

Lots of rumours have flown about Sav this year as a lot wanted to see more of him - I'll put it in that category until it's official...

I'm not sure we would stand in his way if he asked to go now, would we? He's barely played for the first team and if he's got no plans to sign a deal for next season, why keep him here? He's had a pretty hard time of it recently it seems and has plenty of contacts over there, so if he wants to go, good luck to him. Saints should just get in there first and make sure he's obligated morally to come back to us if he returns.

If he doesn't go, great, get him on a 5 year deal now so we're at least compensated when he does go.

Always going to happen with the money in NRL and the wraps from Burgess and Graham etc. It was just over 12 months ago couple of mates from Brisbane were saying Broncos had Walmsley on there radar with talk of Sam Thaiday coming the other way but nothing came of it....luckily.

If we do get some part of the season out of an injury free Sav, it will be a bonus for the 2015 season.

From what I have heard he was offered a contract extension by Saints but decided against signing it. It's a very similar situation with Joe Burgess and Ryan Sutton at Wigan, and I guess there'll be a few others also awaiting the Aussie call.

The three of them I believe still have one year left on their contract so things may change, but the money on offer over there will be much higher. If Wigan and Saints chose to get near or match the offers then it puts them in a perilous position when the next really good youngster comes through.

Leeds had a similar problem with Jordan Baldwinson and Mason Tonks and they were allowed to leave to go to NZ Warriors (although both have returned after failing to make an impression in their U20's side)

edit - I hadn't heard of any offer for Savelio, just that he didn't want to sign his extension, so that would tie up with the OP

Lets not forget this is all rumor.

Just a shame we will not even get to see the lad play more than the few minutes he has if it's true.

It's been stated 1000s of times why he hasn't! His mum even made a statement saying why!

Players health is priority in any situation and saints and especially Brown have handled him excellent with what he's been through.

He has turned down [unrl and saints offers[/u until he knows that he can be as good as he was and intended to be.

Oh and his mother said that, and I quote, "Andre wants to be a great player for saints".

I hope Andre gets back to his best and wish him all the best in his recovery. Saints have shown a lot of faith in him and I hope he repays that faith.

Eamonn McManus, unlike some other SL club owners, wants to keep the best young homegrown players in this Country and in SL.

And we doing well in having home grown and british players and soon will have a British coach.

From our grand final winning team we had 8 home grown players, 5 other British players and 4 overseas players which is pretty good going IMO.

We also had Lomax, Wilkin out who would have started but obviously another another overseas player in Luke Walsh would have played.

Did you read the post that Savelio's mum put on Redvee? (Incase you don't know what Redvee is, it's the forum that you go on to every day of the week!!!)

I post on there to give it some balance, but don't read or post on every thread. When was it? Did I post?

As I said Savelio came up in a conversation I had in the last two weeks concerning Burgess and Sutton and it wasn't with Savelios mum, unless she's changed sex and has a son who plays for Wigan.

This deserves another post...

And he has my patience and support, but why wont he sign another deal with us? If as a club we've stood by and supported him, and he's loyal back, he'd be made up to re sign

The fact his mother's mentioned a metal/mood disorder means its automatically more complicated than simple logic. For all we know, he may actually be struggling with the idea of any professional career in rugby at all.

Its going to be a long close-season and if we continue to hypothesis about Sav, we're in a real risk of expecting too much from him, given his situation.

We need to just look at him as a Wild Card entry into our squad for next year. Hopefully it'll turn out wonderfully well, but if it doesn't, it doesn't.
