Always good news when we sign up young English players. Where is Swift going to play long term? Are we convinced by him as a winger? Not that he doesn't play well there, but he doesn't look a natural winger. Could he not be our missing 6? Centre maybe when he's a bit older?

I would have potentially waited a while on Walmsley to see how he started this season. He went on a rapid rise last season, growing very quickly into a tremendous player, but then crashed a little towards the end as he suffered physically.

Swift was the player I was on about in the rumours thread few weeks back.

He was carrying an injury at the back end of the year that progressively got worse and eventually meant he missed the world cup, no negative to this deal at all, bordering bonkers to suggest there is

And Swift himself says he isn't a 6, how many times has that been discussed? He could easily play 1 too but nothing wrong with flexibility, stop trying to find a problem where there isnt one

Its looking good for Saints I must say.

We have some excellent young talent now and getting them signed up long term is great.

On paper their front row looks very very poor but I expect them to be very competitive. Wane seems to get something out of players that are pretty average.

Look at the player he's turned Flower into. Don't under estimate those buggers.

That's my point, I'm not under estimating them.

Was going to say the same, Flower is a very good prop.

A good signing getting Walmsley to a 5 year deal.
Secures him to you, perhaps, if he does go to the NRL after playing well then you'll get a hefty fee.
Haven't seen too much of Swift but he does seem pretty good from what little I have seen.
James is probably a back up in case of injuries.
The props he's behind are Flower, Taylor, Dudson, Crosby & Pettybourne. Clubb can play prop too although I've always seen him as a direct replacement for Hansen as a right sided 2nd row.
FWIW my top three this season are Huddersfield, Saints & Wigan in any order.

Personally i can't pick a position for any of the top 5. Wire can't be discounted and Leeds back line looks awesome. Doesnt matter too much this year, but its exactly what we want for unpredictability next!
