Was very impressed with him onTV today (not on the pitch mind you lol) he was very presentable and was articulate when interviewing full marks John well done.

That's been his ambition since 2008.

I think Wilkin is a natural on the TV. He's articulate, knowledgeable about his subject, intelligent and easy on the eye, which not many male pundits are (and so is always a bonus!).

I found his interviewing of the Wigan players today quite surreal! I'm sure there was a twisted mind somewhere in the BBC team who decided to give that job to him knowing that Wigan were certain to be the winners.

I was waiting for his answer to the baiting from Brian Noble about wetting the ball. He had the good sense to keep quiet.

I think he's more suited to that interviewer / pundit role rather than commentator (Dave Woods should have that job)

He is excellent and would not want the anchor role, it does not fit in with the role of a Saints legend.

Wilkin, Jon Wells and Brian Carney are all better than anything else the BBC or Sky have to offer.

Agree, and Crabtree was excellent today, particularly on the Red Button after the game.

Crabtree was very good and, lets face it, he stands out from the crowd.

We should keep an eye out for any player or ex/player that speaks well on camera to make them a go to for coverage. Young Tom Linham was refreshingly articulate in his interveiw (great player, too).

The Ray French and Jonathan Davies combination sets our game back many years. I remember Eddie Wareing's commentaries well and, although he was frequently derided by fans (including me) for his Northern accent, he became a minor BBC celebrity (remember his appearance on the Morecambe and Wise show?) so was always associated with rugby league whenever he appeared.

Ray French is a good radio commentator but has never been in the same league as Eddie for TV broadcasts. Ray's cries of "he's going for the line" and his (nowadays) frequent lapses with regards to player names and rules of the game are embarassing. I fully appreciate that advancing age affects us all (I'm 65 so I'm aware of my faults also!) but - my apologies Ray - it's time to retire from TV commentaries. Your TV summaries of games and players from the past are excellent but it's the "live" stuff that really needs someone younger.

The BBC team of Basil, Nobby, Wilko, Robbie, Earl etc is very impressive but please leave the commentaries to Dave Woods....!

Dave Woods is a decent commentator tbf, puts the sky lot to shame. Mark Fletcher was also good on yesterday' game, added a bit of humour to sport which was nice. I do like Barrie and Terry though, just coz they tell it as it is!

I think Sky could do alot worse that 'retire' Eddie and Stevo and look to get people Like Robbie Paul and Ian Millward onboard. Millwards analysis is excellent and he could definitely replace Stevo as a co-commentator

Hemmings major problem is his arrogance which over the years has sadly increased. He actually thinks himself rugby league royalty. Sadly many of the Sky team have that same persona about them, which to be fair Noble, Wilkin and Paul do not have. Woods is a professional guy who does a good job on the game.
