I wouldn't hold your breath. The club can't even find the grace to apologise to fans (not to mention the staff behind the bars) for enduring such awful conditions 'inside' the stadium much less speak about cladding.

What total and utter (moderated). Did Hull KR appologise to the Warrington fans? what about the North terrace at Leeds or even better Odslum. The concorse was a bit wet on the floor in the North Stand, but I would prefer that to what we had a KR - the lovely walk behind the Eddington to our open air facilities. Grow up and put a coat on.

None of those are brand new, state of the art facilities though. Apart from Bradford, Hull KR are in the process of redeveloping their stadium and Leeds are looking to do so also.
How many brand new stadiums have soaking concourses?

| I don't see this concourse problem. Is it a health and safety risk or people just a bit scared of getting wet because the easy answer to the latter is to stand away from it.

I don't understand you.
Are you saying that concourses should naturally be soaking wet every time it rains and therefore it can't be a problem?
Or are you saying that we shouldn't complain that it is wet?
I'd have thought the easy answer would be to fix the problem not avoid the problem.

| Quote ="McClennan"I'm asking why it is a problem. What problem is it causing?'"
Three problems:
Firstly, it is unpleasant for fans to be wet outside, wet in the stands and wet when they are supposed to be 'inside' (as opposed to simply inside, like the South Stand fans and corporates are).
Secondly, it is unfair on and unpleasant for the staff behind the bar who were actually getting wet themselves last night (at least the West Stand bar staff were). They have so far had to endure freezing temperatures without any heating, wind and rain, yet they are bar staff, not fell walkers. They should not have to endure those conditions on what will probably be minimum wage (or any wage for a supposedly indoor job).
Thirdly, there is a potentially significant health and safety problem. If you cannot appreciate that smooth concrete with pools of standing water - literally pools - does not represent a health and safety risk then you are not really reflecting upon the situation deeply enough. The steps on the West Stand were also risky as the smooth concrete there was sopping wet and was slippy underfoot.
The stadium last night was a disgrace IMO.

The concourses being wet is a massive problem! It's a a health and saftey hazard without a doubt and could also be costly for the club in few years time when the slab starts coming up.
Health & saftey - The concourse being wet mashed the floor become very slippy as the finish on the concrete slab is power floated meaning its finished to a very smooth finish which is 99% used for indoor concrete slabs. If the concourse was designed to be outside then it would have a brush finish which makes it less slippy. Obviously water on a smooth concrete finish will result on someone slipping which results in claims.
Possible cost - The concrete used in the concourses is not for outside slabs. The are concrete mixes for inside and outside. That mix is for inside and when water/rain gets on it over the years, the is a good chance is can scrub off and break up as water gets thru and underneath.

This is about the quality of the pitch not about how when it rains you may get the soles of your feet wet.
I swear you would think most Saints fans were expecting the Louisiana Superdome to be built at Langtree park.

Do you sit in the South Stand?
I wore trainers too and was fine. But that was only because I took care through the puddles. I'm in the West Stand, entering at the NW corner turnstiles where it was soaking wet.

A bit more cladding would be great but I still love the place(except the lack of atmos).

Funny how you quote me but then add two words that were entirely absent from the quote you posted. Making stuff up won't actually make it true you know.
I said it was a disgrace, which it was. The concourses are supposed to be inside the stadium, which is why they have walls and doors. However, the great big yawning gap between the wall and the roof allows the elements to come in. In the NW corner the concourse was sopping wet all the way to the bar and the bar staff could feel the rain on their faces. That is a disgrace. The staff at Knowsley Road were better protected (at least the huts had a roof AND walls) and I was always dry under the Pop Side roof. But that could be because there were also walls which went from the floor to the roof.

I would be more than happy to ask McManus about the cladding but I wouldn't do it in front of a room full of people. Unlike some, I do have manners.

Much as eveyone seems to like having a go at you at every opportunity; I have to agree with you on this one SF.
I'm in the north stand and it was very wet and cold. We were sort of "promised" a half way house sort of solution, i.e. to put cladding in the nw and ne corners, but just needed planning consent apparently. This was just into the start of the season and its all gone very quiet and I'm just wondering whether its one which are putting off due to a lack of cash but don't think this is valid after the favourablr re-financing and higher crowds than budgeted for.
I'd have thought a more urgent and cheaper problem to fix is the councourse cladding rather than the gap at the back of the stands?
If we could just finish these important final bits off, we would surely have the best SL stadium; until these problems are fixed I can't honestly say that.

The staff in the conession stands were in standalone huts either behind or at the side of stands. They were if anything less protected than they are now! talk about a revisionist version of history.
So I'm right you are an Internet Warrior - quite happy to talk drivel on the Internet infront of god knows how many people here - but not in front of a room of 200! I dont understand how slagging off the man and his stadium on an internet forum is having manners whilst not having the guts to do it infront of him is????
