What do you expect a 19 year old Stand Off having his first senior match on the wing to do exactly? He should be proud of his debut, he did very well. Aside from a couple of bad positional reads (he's not a winger so completely understandable) he did well. Was solid under the bomb which he was clearly targeted for and went forward well enough.

His performance for young lad playing out of postion in his first gave was outstanding. He took some good high kicks which he's not used to being a stand off.

Also, his grandad died the day before the game so I thought he was outstanding.

no no no your all wrong Lance is a proven world class halfback because Saintsfan (and her buddy Royce) says so and he played there for an entire season at u11's

Her buddy Royce wasnt playing lance in the halfs he was the back on the bench until roby got injured it rush and Cunningham that have playing him in the halfs

We had no direction in the halves early season until Lance moved there, his experience and organisation are the main factors imo why Lomax is performing better again as he wasnt getting this support from Gaskell and therefore Lance needs to stay at 6 for me.

As for Foster, Swift wasnt spectacular on Saturday, but at least he caught any kicks that went his way and didnt pussy out like Foster has done this season, if Makinson isnt fit to return then possibly he may play but as soon as Gardner and Makinson are back he wont get a look in

If you remeber when foster came through, he was a very safe pair of hands. Remember when Stevo gave him MoM against wigan for taking that pressure catch at the end? He showed many moments like this last year.
No mistakes and a deadly goal kicker were his two selling points, though. He's lost one of them and needs to get it back (which I'm sure he can).

Foster is also an excellent finisher. Gardner and Meli probably offer more overall threat, but he's better than Swift and better in terms of contribution to Makinson, who to be honest doesn't do enough to warrant a place on the wing and is crying out for some game time at fullback.

If he hasn't got his hands back to deal with the kicks, any adventure back in the first team is going to be a torrid time and likely to knock any confidence he's got right out of him.

We should never see foster in a saints shirt ever again, he has no pace, can't tackle, can't catch a high ball and was only in the team for his goal kicking, and he wasn't doing that!!!

If Gardener is still injured, then put Mackinson back onto the wing, he offers more than foster, swift did ok for his debut, good name aswell



Leave Lance at SO, we have been improving since he has been selected there so why change it, afterall he was signed as a 6.

I would be tempted to leave Shenton out if wheeler is fit. Give him the wake up call that he needs. Don't get me wrong I like Shenton, but he just doesnt seem right, if it's a confidence thing with his elbow I don't know, but a wake up call is needed.

I don't know what's happened to Gardener, but he's been one of our best players this season, can't recall him making a mistake and his kick returns are excellant. Meli onthe other wing has that fear factor for me, not many big wingers knocking about these days, plus he can put a shift in taking the ball up.

The difference is, Francis Meli doesnt have a "prima donna" attitude, think he is better than he actually is or spend more time focussing on twitter comments than rugby league...As it stands at the moment, Meli, Gardner and Makinson are all ahead of Foster in the pecking order and it is up to him to prove his worth and earn his place back in the team, but if 2 of the above 3 are fit I wouldnt even think about playing him at this moment in time
