OK, well just a bit of fun here, nothing malicious before the River Plate crew start crying but was wondering what peoples top 3 hated Wigan players are/were. It can be from now or from 1940 it really doesn't matter and reasons DO NOT have to be valid you can hate them for whatever reason you please e.g Neil Cowie because he was a chunk.

I'll start off with...

1 - Kelvin Skerrett - fat dirty barsteward
2 - Andy Farrell - just couldn't stand him probably because he was so good....
3 - Mick Cassidy - couldn't stand him

Terry Newton would have been up there but as a mark of respect I have not put him in there. Gary Connolly simply for the Judas factor also, but I'll let him off.....

I'd have to have good think about this as the have been so many over the years but I'm willing to bet that Shaun Edwards is most hated.

I was only a nipper when Edwards left and although I saw him for a couple of years I was too young to care. But yeah he is my Mums and Brothers...

The only player I could say that I have ever truly hated would have to be Newton, for his antics both on and off the field. The fact that he snuffed it didn't change that.

Exactly, they were bloody good players who broke my heart too many times, but I can't say I hated any of them.

What a stupid thread. you hate players for one reason. They are great players who you all should be privileged to see play the game. I was unlucky to have to retire at 21 through a serious injury and yes it was at the highest level.

All get my respect no matter what team they play for.

That's exactly whay I have been saying, no matter how good Wigan's players were, or how often they did for Saints, I didnt hate them. Newton was a different matter, that had nothing to do with ability.

Not necessarily, I hate Ryan Bailey and he's crap.

I'm going to go against the flow (just for a change). I think Ryan Bailey is a better player than he gets credit for from opposition fans. Don't get me wrong I was quite pleased when Lauaki gave him a dig on Saturday, but that's not the point.

I don't think Connolly should be on there really. He wanted to stay at Saints and we treated him badly, he only wanted a small pay increase, much less than Wigan were offering him to stay and we wouldn't give it him. He deserved the pay.

Edwards....not for anything that he did on the park, thought there were too many times that could be commented on. But for his total ignorance in wigan town centre one night, when approached by my son for his autograph, he sent him away with a verbal 2 finger comment. Not nice explaining to a 12 yr old what he meant

I met Shaun Edwards once, and was the perfect gentleman. Couldn't stick him in that shirt, though.

1 Judas. ( We only hear his side of the story these days. It was the way he used to flaunt around Town, with his Wigan mates that narked me)

2 Neil Cowle (Ordinary player in a great team, and a complete and utter gob5h1t3 with it. I don't usually condone violence on the field, but I had to laugh when Adam Fogerty did him)

3 Adrian Shelford ( Shouldn't talk ill of the dead, but was a nasty so and so, and did the dirty on us.)

Finished Kevin McCormack's career with a poor challenge with his knees IIRC.

Bill Ashurst and Brian Hogan. Proper villains. In an era when there were some real thugs about, these two were stand outs. Hogan was almost a pantomime baddie and would play to the crowd - for those of you who can remember, he was the Mick MacManus of Rugby League!
