Enclosing the stadia would dramatically increase the windload on the structure. Seems strange that Barr would allow for that in their inital design calcs, if wasn't part of the original design.

That's why the cladding is going to be full of holes. It won't be all the way to the roof either but there will be a gap between it and the roof to allow for wind resistence.

Most structures are designed with the view of additions to size and adaptations, the cross bracing used on the structure would easily transfer the increased wind loads subjected by the new cladding.

Not sure where this thing about the Allianz arena has crept in, i'm almost certain the perforated cladding to be used on the Saints stadium is nothing like that of the facade of the Allianz.

I dont know where people are getting this 'halo' mullarkey from it looks nowt like a halo and more like Dora the explorers head.

Why did all the original artists impressions have an enclosed stadium then? There was never a mention that this was the original intention.

I thought that too. not having an enclosed stadium in this country is just daft.

Purely my own opinion, but it may have been a late decision to save funds, and it just didn't work in terms of how much shelter they were hoping for.

It would have been interesting had they got the shelter right, and it looked good from inside, but I must admit the outside looked horribly unfinished (although to be fair, it was unfinished!).

Fair play to Saints. The original configuration didn't work as they found out a few weeks back in the wind and the rain, so they did something about it and sorted it out.

Im just glad they did sort it.

Yeah it's gonna get fixed , must admit with the odd weather we get these day I wouldnt fancy getting soaked in my seat lol

I may not renew my season ticket for next year due not being 100% sure I can make the games due to being very busy at work.

Already done mine , I fancied standing but I go with my grandad mainly and I dont think he fancied it at his age

I was whinging about only getting my seat 9 rows up, but with that gap at the back (with or without cladding) I'm pretty clad my seat is not further back.

When i read the title of the thread and seen your stadium mentioned i thought you had lost the plot and decided to go down the Jack and Vera Duckworth route with some cheap tacky stone cladding on the outside, in red of white of course instead of blue and stained cream
