Little harsh, he didn't do much but wasn't as bad as his other grand finals.

I said it was huge mistake giving him two year deal as he's not good enough. He's done ok this year but we need a proper centre and not just a oversized to slow winger.

I feared the worst when Shenton went off. Cant blame the loss on Meli tbh. He didnt get much service.

The shenton injury was the game changer. We was on the front foot at the time and we didn't adjust with his loss quick enough.

Credit to Leeds tho, they hit us straight away down that side.

The leeds kicking game wiped the floor with ours.

Technically he went to the right wing with Soliola at centre. Hard work though and Leeds did target that side after shenton went off

Meli is easy target but wasn't just him on that side. Lomax, sia and meli was all over that side.

Tommy makinson looks very at ease at fullback.

I'd agree , he looks safe and he has great pace.

Soliola and Lomax were beaten for pace. You can argue about their positional play but neither's mistake got anywhere close to Meli taking a dummy. No professional player should ever take a dummy. It's inexcusable. Much like Meli's play in each of his other three Grand Final encounters with Leeds.

If you want to make him your scapegoat fair enough. But Meli didn,t get any quality ball, a couple of times Gaskell should have passed to Meli in space but Gaskell decided to go back inside. Meli just wasn't,t allowed to get in the game.

I noticed that with gaskell today. He chose wrong options at times but that's due to inexperience and he'll learn from today.

That's a weak excuse. If a player isn't getting enough ball there is nothing stopping him from going hunting for it. Phil Clarke was talking before the game about how our tried tend to start down the middle. His generous line was that this was because we like to use our big forwards to dominate the opposition to create space for Roby. My less generous line is that we haven't the skill at half-back to create the space for centre play, and we haven't the pace or skill out wide to exploit any space which does come that way. So we HAVE to go down the middle !

Is there even the slightest chance that Wheeler could be turned into a proper centre, instead of one of the endless supply of utility backs or utility forwards which Saints produce ? He's got some pace, a decent step, and good hands. That's the basics. The rest is training, training, training. I think I'd feel better about next year if I knew that we had two actual centres to start with, so that we might actually work some moves which were based around creating space on the flanks. Mind you, given Wheeler's injury record....

We've been lucky he's stayed injury free allayers or god knows what our centres would be.

It's no secret I think saints made massive mistake in giving meli a two year deal. It seems saints fans are happy for him to play centre just to keep him off the wing.

Wheeler to play centre, rip it up all season, never get injured and win MOS, FACT!
