| what is so eye-popping about that appointment?
he is a good experienced coach, and the players they have got will suit the style of play he employs.

| He is a fantastic coach. Look at his performance at Leigh, a brilliant turn around.
He is a lot better than our coach.

| I rate him as a coach and think it would be a good appointment. His coaching plus Rangi Chase's style could be devastating to SL defences.

| Great appointment, an experienced winner. Can't believe how many people seem to think he isn't a good coach due to a book written by a ginger doormat, he was in there as an agent anyway.

| Poor old Leigh! He's done it to them twice now. Two years with them and then off to a Superleague club. I wonder if he can push Cas on like he did St Helens? It will seem really strange having him back in the top flight only this time coaching against us. Rangi Chase with Millward coaching him could be a scary prospect! And based upon what I've seen of Leigh this season, Basil no longer holds to the philosophy of 'as long as you score more points'. He actually seems to believe in defence as well!
If the rumour is true, and it was repeated on BootsnAll tonight, then it will be interesting to watch Cas next season.

| I've just been reading some of the comments on the Leigh board. They sound so gutted to be losing him. I want to cry.

| Mmmm, whilst I'd like to see him succeed, I do have doubts over his ability now that we're in a stricter situation with the salary cap and quota.
Cas [iwill[/i play some good stuff and have some great days, but they're also likely to have some pretty dark days too.

| One of Basils hardest jobs at your place was managing the cap and the ageing players grabbing too much of it, some obviously didn't like it.

To be fair, he's done the job that Leigh needed him to do. They have won the cup, everything else that you need to get into SL is outside of the coaches hands. Finance etc.
For Leigh this means they can probably spent less on the top level coaching staff now, and with their financial backer no longer there, although the club may not say it, it may help to not have the drain on their reasources in a role that has already done the job in season 1.
If Millward stayed for a further 3 years, he could still miss out on SL with Leigh but due to circumstances that he has no input into.
If it was P&R, then maybe he would have stayed and taken his chances via on field performances, but it's not P&R its franchises and obviously Millward wants to take another tilt at the big time, before everyone starts to see him as a non-SL coach.
