As saintsfan has said in another thread we've not got a great deal of leaders in our team. I think the other players up for the job would be pryce ( if he's here), perry, roby and laffranchi.

Roby would be the stand out choice from performances
Wellens for Experience.

However I wonder if an outside captain maybe a surprise choice. Perry or Lafanchi.

The best player does not nessasarily mean the best captain. The safe bet is probably Wellens.

Laffranchi has all tools to be good captain and IMO would be the best choice but would Royce pick someone who's only just arrived? I doubt he will.

What is the role of captain exactly these days? Is it just a label or is it an on-field leader and director of operations? If it's the former then it doesn't matter who we have since nothing much is required. If it's the latter, then Roby would be hopeless in my opinion as while he is a real presence as a player, he isn't as a person. Wello is ok but gets very frustrated at himself. We need someone who can look beyond themselves and motivate others, verbally in particular. Someone who can pick the lads up or calm them down or give them astute directions.

In a few years I could see Foster being that kind of material. He already joins in with the cajoling!

with the new stadium as well would be nice for a local lad to lead the team out so from me got to be roby or wellens

Wello will be in with a shout, but would be reletively short term.

Roby may not seem like a loud talker, but if he asked you to do something, I reckon you'd do it.

Jon Wilkin for me. He's always been our leader anyway in everything but title. He's been our main man this season so far.

if not wilkin defo roby, i think wellens could be a great captain but with him not having many years left in him it seems more fitter to give it to wilkin or roby ( or maybe both )

I guess he means wello is getting older , slower and although he is good positionally he offers very little now on kick returns etc etc ..
