This isn't how Saints got into trouble before.

What happened last time was THE CLUB had to pay bonuses to players picked for England. The game was unplanned at the beginning of the year so the club hadn't calculated it in. So when they paid bonuses for getting an England place then it tipped the club just over the salary cap.

The question is, could this happen again with this unplanned mid year game?

If not, why not?

bonuses payed to players who make England debuts do count, however. If J-Lo gets a call for England, and in his contract he has a £10k bonus from Saints for an England debut, then does this game count as an international appearance, or not?
