| Just thought I would post a few thoughts from the Catalans weekend. Firstly I will say what a great weekend it is to go and watch the Saints down in Perpignan and I would recommend it to anyone – one of those things you have to do at least once!!! Yet again, we had a brilliant time and the weather was great which is also a bonus!
1) Ok – the match itself. We didn’t play too well – again – but we got the victory. Catalans have really picked up their form and as the weather gets warmer, it will be a very tough place to go and get a result. We have taken 2 points from the match, so however disjointed the performance was, we won! Also, it’s worth remembering that Pryce went off very early in the match which disrupted the team and Moore also went off injured early in the 2nd half.
2) The new stand they are building will be a great facility when finished – it looks superb. I just hope they can continue to pick up their form to get the numbers in to watch the matches.
3) The behaviour of some of our fans was embarrassing and really let the rest of the fans down. 2 people got kicked out – I’m not going to say anything other than why did they just not sit down when they were asked?! The worst of the embarrassment came from a group of ‘supporters’ who were barracking Gardner and, most noticeably, Eastmond. I think Gardner has played well this season – he takes the ball in well and is usually pretty safe under the bomb. He may not be the quickest winger in the league but he does work hard. The abuse for Eastmond was disgusting. He has made his decision now and that’s it – we have to get on with it. I posted on here last week saying he should be dropped, but in hindsight it was a kneejerk reaction to show my disappointment. I have now had chance to think, and we have to get behind him for the rest of this season.
The ‘Swing Low’ chants, which Saints fans have done for a while now when kicking a penalty, were chanted when Kyle was lining up goal kicks. I thought this was unfair. The worst was when Kyle was lining up a goal kick right in front of where the majority of Saints fans were sat. Certain ‘fans’ were shouting at him to “Fook off to union’ and then booed him as he took the kick – similar to what a lot of fans do to opposition kickers – and then cheered when he missed!!! What is the point of travelling all that way to behave like that. I just don’t get it.
Anyway, overall it was a great weekend and I will hopefully get there next year – will try and persuade the wife to come next year too but she’s not into the rugby yet!
COME ON YOU SAINTS!

| Poor Kyle. He's going to cop it big style isn't he.
I wonder if Jammer will get the same once he announces that he's signed for Sydney Rabbitohs.

| Kyle must've known he was going to get this, he's a paid professional, he'll get over it. Probably a good idea not to go out in town though, the plebs will have a go

Theres only so many times you can laugh at the same joke.
Which explains my irritation with R.G.

| Whilst Kyle Eastmond isn't flavour of the month right now, if what I'm reading about some of our fans is true then it's very poor indeed. The issue is done, he's made his choice, he's here for the season and we should back him whilst he still wears the Red Vee. The fact is we need him right now especially as Pryce is likely to be out for 6 weeks. He should only get flak if he seems to be giving anything but 100%. If he's trying hard yet still getting this abuse, then it's very poor from our fans and will not help at all.

| In todays League Express Kyle got the M O M award and 3 points in the Albert Goldthorpe medal award so he must have been doing something right. As much as we are annoyed at him going to Bath we should get behind him while he is wearing the Saints shirt.

| Just got back from catalans myself, and thought we played well in patch's. Wellens, Lomax, Clough and Graham were outstanding, i also think the lads who were dressed as tigers were unfairly treated as they were only trying to enjoy themselves and get the saints fans fired up, also reference to the Kyle Eastmond treatment i dont think it was that bad and people are entitled to their own opinions personally i wouldn't boo him as he is with us for the rest of the season whether we like it or not.

I was going to say that, from watching the highlights, he looked MUCH improved on last week!

I agree to a certain extent with your first point - the lads dressed as tigers were trying to fire up the crowd but they should have gone to the back of the stand if they wanted to stand up. Not stay down at the front only to be asked by the stewards at least 8 times to sit down and then take the micky by not doing.
The main problem in my opinion is the amount of alcohol drunk. The last 3 Grand Finals have seen fights breaking out around Old Trafford - down to alcohol. The guys who were kicked out and the fools who were giving Eastmond abuse were so drunk they could hardly stand up. It was embarrasing.
As for the Eastmond abuse, how can you say telling him to 'fook off to union' and other similar remarks is acceptable when he was stood right in front of our so-called fans and well in earshot? Also, when did we start booing our own players when lining up a goal-kick and then cheering when he misses?? Pointless and stupid and is only going to create more problems. Leave the lad alone, get behind him or don't bloody bother coming...
