One thing I was absolutely dismayed about last night was the complete mess that is our cheerleading squad. No one wants to see a bunch of 12-14 year old dance students throwing each other in the air for ten minutes before the game and at half time. There is nothing Saints-ational about that. Not a single person even looks in that direction anymore. They don't even dance or attempt to interact with the crowd, just stand in a gaggle playing throw and catch.

Cheerleaders at sporting events are meant to be visually appealing and of the 18-28 age range. The idea came from the US where they do things properly, but we seem to adopt a stereotypically British approach to completely de-sexualise everything. Anything potentially fun is stamped down on and we cannot resist throwing a chunk out there just to be safe under European Political Correctness laws.

For the new stadium get it done properly. Proper cheerleaders like in Australia and the US (And even IPL cricket in INDIA of all places) and have them interact, taking pictures with the fans and handing out sweets and small merchandise items (Stickers, cards etc) to the kids. I didn't even see that dog thing we're meant to have around the place last night, is he moving to Bath as well? Or was he barred because of the Monaghan thing?

Would you rather see Aus/US style cheerleaders that dance and add a bit of glam to the proceedings or a bunch of 12 year old doing gym practice?

I'd rather see neither myself. But if we have to endure cheerleaders then at least make them dance in time, with each other and the music.

Neither, to be honest. I could do without further advancement of American imperialism infiltrating our sporting culture. Besides, RL is not meant to be about glam. It's played in cack holes in the north of england, after all.

I go to RL matches to watch RL.
If i wanted to watch good looking women cavort in a sexually provocative manner then i would go to a lap dancing/strip club.

You lot are all so grumpy today. What other half time entertainment could the club provide then? They didn't even have a kids match, just some visually embarrassing cross bar game no one had any interest in.

Read the match programme. Eat a pie. Can you not entertain yourself for 15 minutes!? (except that thing you use the internet for)

No, not really. It was so quiet and dead in the North stand I felt compelled to keep completely silent and count the undulations in the corrugated metalwork around the stadium.

Cheerleaders pah! American dross get some whippet racing and tripe eating contests on and how about the best flat cap competition. We are Northerners and proud of it none of this Southern softy rubbish to entertain us.

I'd welcome something more northern. It'd be a laugh.

But on a serious note, i don't think much of the cheerleaders in theory, or in practise. Maybe we should get a big band or something.
