| On Twitter he was saying a couple of weeks, so I'd think he would be doubtful.

| If Salford's defence is like what it was on Sunday we won't need The Leon King.

oh how many times have we said that before the last two away days at Salford?
That said of course i'd expect a comfortable win, but i am cautious!

| I would save him for Warrington.
With Wello out i would bring Gaskell onto the bench. This will also hopefully give Eastmond a bit of a breather after 60 mins as his ankles must be feeling it after going 80 mins against Wigan.

The problem we have with playing wheeler or lomax with eastmond is that they lack experience. Lomax and wheeler ain't played many games at stand off at that level.
If it was Kyle out and Pryce fit then we'd have 1 experienced halfback.

| Either Scott More or Wilko then but I'd rather see Wheeler play at 6, Meli at Centre, Foster on the wing and Lomax at full back

Maybe wilkin would have played 6 if flannery hadn't dropped out on the day of the game and Tony p was playing injured.
I think foster should be given the chance to play fullback. He's showed signs of being a good fullback. His positional play is very good.
I'd play wilkin at 6, wheeler centre and foster fullback.

No, no, please no! Not Wilkin at 6! I hope Simmons keeps things as they were against Wigan or play Lomax at 6 and Wheeler at centre. Either way, the days of shuffling the whole team around to faciiltate a couple of players missing need to stop. It does us no good at all. I reckon Foster at fullback, Wheeler at centre and Lomax at 6 (or Lomax at centre and Wheeler at 6). Surely this will be excellent experience for our inexperienced halfbacks in a halfback position?

Agreed. I was disappointed when Lomax was picked at centre last week. I see him as a more natural stand off, and Wheeler has had a very good pre-season at centre, so I'm all for throwing Lomax in at the deep end and minimising the disruption.

I dont think wheeler got involved enough on Saturday which put pressure on Kyle which IMO effected the way Kyle played.
I think it will be the same with lomax. If Leon was the halfback playing then it would be better.
I agree, wilkin would be better being left at 13 but sometimes for the sake of the team need to move players about.
I just think Kyle needs someone experienced alongside him and only wilkin I can think of.

| I don't see what's wrong with playing Wheeler at 6. Yes he's less experienced than Pryce but there's only one way he'll gain that experience, and that's playing him.
Playing Wheeler against Wigan proved to me that he can do it, if needed. I see Wheeler as our future 6, so why not play him there when Pryce's injured?

It was Gary Wheeler's first time at halfback in the first team, and he had his debut in that position in a derby during the first match of the season and on TV.
Jeez. What do some people expect! I thought the lad was great. He worked his butt off. He was all over his opposite number in defence. He made breaks. He did that really crafty play of kicking the ball off the Wigan player's legs and getting us a penalty. (I really like Wheeler's craftiness; he is one of only a few in our team with those kind of smarts) Wheeler did a fine job for his debut and either at centre or stand off he will do even better the more practice he gets. I just hope he manages to hold his body together this season. He really does deserve a break.

OMG! Did you make a New Year's resolution to be more reasonable this season? It's working great. I just hope we don't lose a match...

I never called wheeler at all, in fact I think he's going to be a good player.
I don't think it's the right time to be playing two inexperienced halfbacks. We need to win against Salford and I think eastmond will benefit from having a experienced player alongside him.

Only one way to get experience and games like Salford are precisely the sort of games we should trust in our young players rather than crow-barring a back rower into the halves in their place.

To be honest, is it ever the right time to be playing inexperienced halfbacks? But we did the Wilkin thing for some of the Grand Final and it didn't work then. It didn't work at all except for one game against Leeds. Kyle Eastmond is actually relatively experienced in the halfback role and as he gets back up to speed he will be more dynamic there. Meanwhile, we have two young halfbacks chomping at the bit and the only way they will become experienced is by giving them that experience.
I understand where you are coming from. A win would be great against Salford; against everyone, come to think of it! But we lost four Grand Finals in a row and the last one to Wigan. Is there anything worse than that? Not to me. So if we lose, we lose. But our halfbacks will get another game under their belt, learn from it and be better next time around.
