Yeah, that was the highlight for us in that clip. Reminded me of when Jamie Lyon used to do it for us. Very exciting signing Shenton.

Why do Widnes come out second half in their away?

Shenton looked good on that try.... not sure if he can live up to Gidley and Lyons high standards down that side though.

I read somewhere that Saints were supposed to play one half in their away kit, one half in their home kit, with Widnes doing it the other way around, but Saints forgot their home kit. The original idea sounded like a good one as it would have given fans chance to see their teams' kits in the flesh before the season started but it didn't quite work like that.


I don't think he should try. I reckon he should just aim to play his best game as often as possible and I'm sure that will do nicely.

The club did advertise that both kits would be on display in the build up to the match, i'm not sure if they said they'd play in both but the news story was "new kits on display"

On the game, a couple of nice tries neat step from Louie, great work by Shenton, a lovely burst from Roby and nippy heels on Wheeler too.

Pants defence for some Widnes tries but I think they deserve a bit of credit for a couple of neat attacking plays.

Was impressed to see Ropati still playing for Wignes, was always a favourite of mine, sheesh he must be well in his 50s by now, good on the old guy.

I was thinking that myself, due to the ceremonial handing over of the keys at half time.
Thought the whole idea was to acknowledge that Saints were no longer playing away from home. Hence both Widnes and Saints to play half the match in their respective home kits.

it wasnt that Saints forgot their home kit, they couldnt wear it as at the time, some of it was still awaiting delivery from ISC

with all due respect to Matt Gidley, Shenton wont have to do an awful lot to live up to his 2010 standards.

he'll have to slow down alot

It's a pity Shenton wasn't signed at the start of last season.12 months working with Matt would have done him no harm at all.

I work for Warrington and Widnes, so I'm afraid I can only do it when you play either of those 2 more than likely, unless I get asked by another club to do their vids as well. Glad you enjoyed it though.
