Cunningham knocked on tonight, in true Saints fashion.

What we saw tonight was nothing new. We've watched Saints play like that many times this season. Sad they had to do it tonight though.

I'm very hopeful our new coach will teach us how to defend again, and attack from outside the 10m line, and think for ourselves on the pitch. In short, take us in an entirely different direction from Potter.

I also hope we ditch Meli and get a pacey winger!

With LMS, josh perry amd shenton coming in and all the kids a super league season older will only make saints a stronger team next year.

listen its easy to take the p...after what i seen 2night it was un like saints..just got a feeling you lot need 2 half backs to back up matty smith and over rated leon...kyle is injury prone(brilliant when he plays)so where the half backs coming from...your backs are ok with out being brilliant,and your forwards are your strength...top 6 next year

We've played most of this year with no halfbacks yet still finished 2nd and was beat by 12 points in the grand final.

Next year we will have kyle and leon fit, LMS, Perry and shenton coming in plus all the young lads will be a super league season older.

Got a feeling we will be a little stronger next year.

The last time we entered the season with a number of high profile signings was 2006 - and look what happened there.

We've been 'in decline' for the past 4 seasons, and managed to finish runners up in each of those. Hardly decline.

Infact the club needs a huge pat on the back because we've stayed at the top while rebuilding.

Matty Smith isn't there next season. He was 4th choice halfback anyway. This is typical of the care system in this Country!! This poor poster should be being properly looked after. Don't be chewing those crayons lad!

You think we have stopped rebuilding? If so, think again. We're losing how many players this season? And bringing how many in? And do we not need pacy wingers who can also tackle and catch bombs? We have a lot of rebuilding yet to do.

And I'd rather not make it to a Grand Final again until (a) we have rebuilt and (b) someone can reinstate that winning mentality we once had.

Not that you should be worried. Your signings next year will be ruthless but this year was a failure.

You get more than finishing 3rd-14th.

and yet, if you win it next year, in typical fashion the same people will predict you're going to dominate for the next trillion years.

whenever a good team loses a big game they are in decline, and whenever a team get's success it's some sort of starting point for some super dynasty lasting decades.

What, you don't know? Gids, Cunningham, Maurie, Bryn, Emmitt and maybe some more because Flannery, Meli and Wello were also up for contract renewals but we haven't heard whether new contracts have been offered (in Meli's case, hopefully not! And probably Flannery too for that matter).

We are losing five players who have played in the first team, at least one of whom has been very influential. But we are bringing in three. Granted, Emmitt probably wouldn't have played had we had Maurie, but now we have neither with just one prop coming in. The numbers don't add up. If the rumours are true about Gardner and Pryce too, we're in a fix next season.

That's good. You need a clear out and a few years of not making the grand final so you can get rid of the mental baggage.

I know KC, gidley, maurie, bryn and emmitt but i was under the impression you knew for sure from the context of your post.

We will miss KC but lets be honest he don't play much game time these days and we've got roby and moore witing the wings. What a great player he's been!

Gidley has been on his last legs this year and shenton will improve us in the centre.

Maurie ain't played much over the last two seasons and has been hit and miss in the times he has played.

Bryn is solid enough but LMS is better and will improve us there and with aussie prop josh perry coming in will improve us a great deal.

Emmitt has really come on leaps and bounds over the last 3 month and i think it's a mistake not keeping him.

So on a whole i think we will improve next year.

We need a few years of not making the grand final

It's for your sake. For the next few years, if you keep making em, you'll keep losing em. If you like losing the title decider umpteen times on the trot though, knock yourself out.

So we should play for not making the grand final ?

Should we be making mental adjustments for who is going to beat us in next years grand Final.

With type of thinking we might as well wrap up now.

for me wigan and saints are the teams who have improved for next season, wigan signing the 3 storm lads and saints signing perry,shenton and lms. Warrington and leeds will be battling for 4th next year along with huddersfield. In fact I wouldnt be suprised if the top 5 finished something like 1. wigan 2. saints 3. huddersfield 4. warrington 5. leeds
