Do you think the Premier League have enough money to build Wigan Athletic and Hull city new grounds?

What will be their stance regarding Rugby Unions plans to use Premier League football grounds for the 2015 RU World Cup?

I would hazard a guess most stadia are dual use in some form or other at Saints they play soccer and Rugby League on it, but no one seems to complain about the pitch there.

Maybe the problem is the pitch and not what or how much is played on it?

I think the worst pitch this season was probably Headingly but as a Premier League side doesn't play on it that doesn't count...

Surely Huddersfield with them being lower Division will be allowed to continue sharing?

this debate is pointless, and the premier league have no power over wigan or hull rl who both have iron clad tenancies.
As you say if the premier league want to build 2 new stadia, then thats just dandy!

In tonights Wigan Observer Dave Whelan is threatening to take the Premier League to court if they try to enforce the one sport one pitch rule.

Whelan said "Wigan Rugby cannot be moved from the stadium" and he "Will take legal action against the Premier League" if they try to enforce it.

Do you know why? because the only ones at risk (until the lease is up) are Wigan Athletic. If that rule was enforced they would be the ones who would have to move.

Whelan won his battle over the policing issue, if this one goes to court he will also win this one.

We Wigan RLFC have a great deal at the stadium, we pay 10% of our gate receipts. The pitch has just been relaid at a cost of £200K, but cost us nothing. how much will it cost Leeds to sort theirs out?

I know a few lawyers who laugh at the idea of iron clad legal agreements. Didn't DW back out of RL before when he had to choose between losing his money on the Warriors or losing it on the Latics?

Why would they have to move? They would just evict the Warriors, pay the couple of million in compensation and laugh about it.

Just because you lot want to watch Wigan, the best and most famous Rugby League team of all time, on a regular basis isn't a good enough reason for us to leave our ground. But thanks for the invite.

Maybe be the time you have arrived back from Aus work will have started on the stadium.

This has got nothing to do with stopping the RL clubs playing at those grounds.

This is a clique of Premier League football clubs trying to cut the number of teams in the premier league down so that more elite clubs can fit more European games in. The big clubs make no money or prestige from coming to Wigan or Hull, so they want them out. There's a lot more money and prestige in replacing those games with playing Barcelona or somesuch.

They are just grasping round for reasons to kick them out.

I've posted something similar on the Wigan site, saying that the PL would much rather have Necastle, Leeds, Notts Forest etc in the "PL club" than Wigan.

I actually feel very sorry for the genuine Wigan Athletic suporters.
