With the extra 102points on our points difference it would mean we are still top. And if we had got the goal kicks at the games like Hull KR home, Wakefield home we would have won the games, also meaning we would still be top (depending on Leeds and any other team)

I don't blame Jonny Lomax for the missed kicks on Friday, but the club should be making sure that the players, who can kick, are practicing after training.

Missed goal kicks has cost us games this year, and it might cost us top spot.

Can't argue. It has cost us matches this year, problem solved if Eastmond plays most of the games next year as I expect him to have a 75% success rate, better than Long in recent years. But if he doesn't we'll have the same problem next year.

Worryingly for this year, if Long stays at 7 and not Eastmond then we will struggle to win play off matches without converting most of our tries. We can't score near the sticks at present either so we are in a bad way really.

lomax looks good kicker even though he missed all kicks off touchline against hudds.

he had all kicks off touchline mate. Put it this way he kicks better than long and wello.

perhaps but a good kicker converts at least one of those. Thats the difference between being a good kicker and an ok kicker.

what has that got to do with anything? Just because Long or Wello couldnt kick them does not mean Lomax is a good kicker. Lomax kicking them would mean Lomax is a good kicker.

The post at top of page is saying if eastmond don't play then we will struggle to kick goals.

I'm saying that lomax is our next best kicker behind eastmond!!!!!

Wello is worst kicker in history and long is finished as a goal kicker and has said in past he don't wanna kick!

This then poses the question what does Potter do if Eastmond is fit, he is currently our best goal kicker.

Do you play him instead of Long?

Do you put him at full back and give Wello a rest?

Or do you try him and Long together as halves and put Pryce as loose forward.

Im leaning towards playing Eastmond at FB if Long and Pryce are fit.
He hasnt got the all round game of Wellens,nor the experience, However in the playoffs we will need pace, because all the top 4 teams are very close together ability wise, and what may determine who wins and who loses is that extra yard of pace.

Wellens can then move to Loose Forward.

Or play Eastmond in the centres, it's not as big a role as full back.

We need the creativity, worth a shout since we can always switch it round mid-game. We need something at 13.

But you haven't lost 3 games this year because of goal kicks - if we had kicked those points difference wouldn't matter as we would have 6 competition points more

I defo 100% wouldn't play eastmond at fullback.

I do think long and eastmond could work. Long would provide the direction we have so badly missed and Kyle would provide his awesome pace, able to make breaks and goal kicking. I think that would be a very very good but brave move by potter.

As to where pryce would play I'm not so sure. He's got to play as he is such a threat in attack.

Does wello deserve to be moved? I'm not so sure.

IMO if we was to go with longy and Kyle then pryce would have to move to centre or centre.

Potter should pick what's good for team

Give the lad a break. It was the first time he kicked at first grade, all three were from the touchline, the team was not exactly orbiting the moon and he was limping quite badly before he kicked that final kick (he took a knock to his knee as well as having his face bashed later on). He had a lot of pressure on his shoulders on Friday. If the team had been coasting points ahead then he may well have converted all three, even with a damaged knee. However, he will have known, just as we all knew, that the match could all hang on his kicks. That's pressure enough for an experienced, confident kicker in a lacklustre team but a young guy on his first grade debut? Leave it out. He'll do just fine over time.

We appear to have quite a few kickers in our young players although, Matty Smith aside (who is probably not rejoining us), apparently Foster is the best even though we haven't seen Foster in action since the friendlies. Eastmond isn't all that more reliable than Longy from what I can gather so far, Wheeler can boot them over, and Lomax and Ellis are both kickers. If all of them practice often enough that gives us a healthy number of options, so long as at least two are playing in any one match!

Eastmond to FB and let Long and Pryce play in the halves, i`m sorry to say Wellens best days are behind him.

IIRC we kicked 3 out of 3 against Hull KR

The physical side of goal kicking is practised from an early age so there's no need to tire out the kickers with extra training. Just get them some advice on how to cope with pressure. Even Longy kick 7 out of 7 earlier this season when the pressure was off (or did I dream that)?
