To paraphrase though, Long has had upwards of 22 ops during his time in the game and says it can be like being in a car crash each week and that no one in the game would roll about playing injured like footballers.

That is pretty much the gist of the story.

Some nasty injuries there, I'm surprised he's still playing after all that surgery.

He's not due a game for another 3 weeks going off his past history.

I don't think Eastmond is the plan, surely they would involve him more if he were.

I for one, hope you are wrong with that statement. Eastmond has looked a quality young player and IMO will replace Long long-term in the Saints team.

Anybody that's played our great game of any standard knows your body is going to breakdown sooner or later... I only played Semi-pro & amateur and my injury list is... broken left hand, broken left ankle, dislocated left shoulder, frozen right ring finger (knuckle), slipped disk, hernia & I have to crack my neck every coupla hrs or I get really bad headaches... I stopped playing properly at 24 & only played scrum half so was lucky to get away with those injuries really.

It'd help if Eastmond was fit for more than a week at the moment.
